Default Are the front O2s the only ones that affect gas mileage?

Ive learned these cars have 4 o2 sensors, but if I think o2s are the reason for horrible gas mileage, shouldnt i only worry about the front 2? Ive already ordered a k&n and will soon be replacing the fuel filter as well.

Front 2 02 sensors monitor and help control fuel mixture. The rear 2 monitor catalytic performace. How "bad" of gas milage do you get?

the rear o2's have nothing to do with your fuel mixture, they simply activate an ses code for emissions upon removal or malfunction. The front o2's are the ones responsible for adjustments in the fuel curve. But, they are generally not the cause of bad gas mileage. You might want to clean your maf, that can often help to make your car run more efficiently. buy some electronics SPRAY ON cleaner, dont brush it!

Ive got a 99SS with an M6 with almost constant 1-3-5 shifting and not stepping into it all of the time. No mods other than SLP's offered dual dual and suspension.

In between the air bellows and the throttle body.
If you pop your hood and track the air intake, it goes airbox->bellows(flexible rubber thing)->mass air flow sensor.
