Cleaning O2 sims

He means the O2 sensor. He's throwing all the codes for the driverside front. I suggested he try cleaning it before buying one as it might just have carbon deposits all over it that can be cleaned off.

2. Make sure the sim is on the rear O2 plug not the FRONT O2
Sounds more like sim is on the wrong plug, he couldn't even figure out the correct name of the part to clean or the correct forum to post the question in. Sounds like he needs hands on supervision.

If you do indeed mean your o2 sensor, then you can try urning off the deposits with a propane torch. Put the sensor in a vice and heat it till its cherry red for a few seconds on each side. After I was getting insufficient switching codes, this would buy me an extra week or two before the codes came back.

dont worry about it man...its how we learn. if its the o2 sensors, do not go cheap! get the gm ones!! also, try to find the source of the problem...maybe it just went bad, maybe the sim is connected wrong...double check everything..

I'd have to scan it again. I know it had insufficeint switching and heater performance. I told him how he could fix those. I get the light on every single time if I don't set the closed loop below 125 degrees on the coolant temp. My exhaust doesn't heat up very quickly. I think it was also throwing high and low voltage.

Since the sensors are new, are they Bosch by any chance?!?! If so, take them back... From my experience over half of them fail shortly after install.. I will NEVER buy another Bosch 02 ever again for the f-body..
