alright everyone... i just talked to an engine shop in texas.... they are telling me that it is going to cost me 3-4 hundred dollars to ship my motor from texas to utah!!!!!!! WTF!! i have shipped motors all over before and it has never been more than 150 bux... why in the world would it cost that much??? utah-texas is like a tiny trip.... guy i know in new jersey just had one shipped out from the same company at the high gas prices and it was only like 300 bux to new jersey.. so why would it be that much to deliver one to utah???

That's way too high and sounds like he's charging you published rates without a discount.
SDPC shipped my 402 longblock from TX to MN for around $100 via Fed Ex LTL.

Yah the most a block would cost is 100-200 just about anywhere within US. Remember its being shipped via freight.

If it is a long block, their price is in line. It cost me $918 to ship a loaded long block from Conneticut to Louisiana. After I bitched and told them they could send it back, they gave me a 40% discount, which was still more than I wanted to pay. Usaully most vendors have a certain shipper that they have an account with. In most cases, these people get the 40% discount. If they aren't in with a shipping company, they pass the horrible charges directly to you.

You're not going to get it done for $150 anymore, but $400 is definitely too much. I was recently quoted a price of $260 to ship a short block from Texas to Northeastern Pennsylvania.

What is with you reviving old dead threads? Do you work for this shipping company or something?
