shift knob removal?

shift **** removal?
hey i am getting sick of my camaro shift **** and wanna put a t/a one on there cuz it looks cooler and my hand is always there when i drive so i might as well get sumthing that molds to it. anyways, how do i take the old shift **** off? i dont wanna break anything, but my first instinct is just to rip up on it as hard as i can...andybody else remove theirs? help me out please - thanks

If you look at on the front of the **** (side that faces the dash) there is a metal clip that holds the **** on.
Its basically a beefy staple recessed in a groove.
Pull out the staple and pull the handle up.
You can use a small screwdriver or a dentist pick to remove the staple.
