They're equal power gains. You cannot use the lid with the K&N kit.

I prefer the lid. You can throw a $12 paper filter in there in about 10 seconds flat, maybe once or twice a year. Beats dealing with cleaning out the K&N with their expensive oils or whatever. Plus it filters out particles better than the K&N.

I really don't like the oiled filters, over oiling can do bad stuff to the MAF. I've always used a lid with a paper filter.

is there a link to this proof? not expecting more than 2 hp with a k&n vs. paper, but i have tough time believing that the paper filter flows the same. with the car moving is where it should make more power.

i have no link, but ive heard it time over and again, there somthing about the design with our intake setup where they dyno about the same

and if there is any difference it probly is +/- 2hp, which if your really worried about oils and k&n not filtering as well as paper, get the paper 2hp isnt really gonna kill your ET

lid = k&n intake kit

lid cost less than k&n intake kit
lid, $100 + k&n filter, $50 = $150
k&n intake kit, $300

What about a lid and a FTRA or a SSRA. I bet they beat your setup. You'll get cooler air from down below than up top. The FTRA, and SSRA also create pressure in the lid forcing air into the throttlebody.

Read his post, he knows he can't use a lid with the K&N kit. It says kit vs. lid.
