Default Stock Replacment Clutch Gone Already???

I had my stock clutch replaced under warranty 7 months (1400 miles) ago. I had smoked it at the track, to many hot laps . Since then I have taken it to the track one time (maybe 8 runs), letting it cool down this time between runs. No problems. I might have gotten on it hard twice after that. Still no problems. The other day while pulling out onto the highway, a little hard, nothing crazy, I thought I smelled my clutch. Then yesterday, at the same place, I smelled it again. So after work I wanted to get on it real hard to see what would happen. Sure enough, 1-2 shift the clutch slipped and there was that wonderful burnt clutch smell What the hell is going on here? 1400 miles on a stock replacment clutch and only the mods I have in my sig.?
Am I doing somthing wrong or does this happen often with the stock clutch? BTW 18300 miles on car now.

I believe they put in a stock replacement clutch for an 02 Z28. Whatever that might be.

I'm not suprised. With 16K on my car I had about the same mods as you and my clutch was slipping noticably on the 1-2 shift. Soon after I added a TR224 cam and a tune....yep, that killed the stock clutch within 5 track passes. This was launching OFF-IDLE and on street radials too The stock one lasted 17.8K for me. I said to hell with it and installed a Textralia OZ700. So far my problems have been solved

Well, the stock clutch is not the greatest at holding much more than 300 or so horsepower. It's all in how you treat it though. For example, my car is making ~400rwhp/~400rwtq and my stock clutch is finally giving out (never been replaced), but my car has 65k miles on it, not all highway either. Either way, upgrade to a better clutch next time you go to replace it. Spec, ram, textralia, etc...they all make excellent replacements for the stocker.

I think they fucked up and gave you the wrong clutch because my zo6 is still alive with 67k on it and i'm not to nice to it.
