What All Do I Need For A 383 Stroker? (budget383)

LS1/6 block with proper machine work, 4" stroker crank (Eagle for the budget), 6.125 rods (Eagle or SCAT for budget), 3.905 pistons (Mahle or Diamond/ budget), Then your misc. bearings (main/rod/cam), Alot of the sponsors sell this set-up as their "budget" 383 for anywhere from $3500-$4000. The 383 motors make a little more peak HP than a 346, but the "under curve" numbers sky rocket. They make alot of TQ, and would make a awesome "street/strip" motor. There just not popular anymore because you can get the LS2 402 for a few hundred bucks more.

no no, its says its specifically ls1 pistons and rods w/ arp bolts... non standard sizes were a few bucks more, and other custom sizes were available. IIRC they said the rods were goot to 800 HP. Thats a hell of a deal. But like you said, if its garbage, it worth nothing.

If you're going to do the 383 don't forget the other non-motor things. You'll need a beefier torque arm, LCAs, and the stock 10 bolt won't hang on for long. I put a 383 in my WS6 about 18mos ago and I love it. The torque curve is awesome.

Feel free to shoot me an e-mail at trevor@texas-speed.com or PM me with what you have found, and I will be happy to see if I can match it! We use quite a few of the Scat H-beam rods with the strokers we're building, and they offer their H-beam with a standard ARP rod bolt and the upgraded ARP 2000 rod bolts. It's only a $70 difference between the two. We are also a dealer for Mahle Motorsports, so we can get you any of their pistons. We have complete 383 cid short-blocks with an Eagle crank, Scat H-Beam connecting rod with standard ARP rod bolts, and your choice of Mahle or Diamond pistons for $3,350! This includes us providing you with a new block, so there's no core.
Let me know exactly what you are looking for or if you need suggestions, and I'll be glad to help you out.
