Get yours tuned. The a4's come with a lot of safety features. I just found out that an untuned a4 will actually skip from 1st to 2nd right away if you punch it hard enough.

Yeah, I felt the same when I bought my 99 SS A4. I had it tuned, which really did help. But, I still wasn't happy with the overall performance on the street. So I just bought all the M6 stuff and converted the trans.
Now I'm happy .

A4's do a lot better at the track than M6's. Get a tune and converter.

just hold it in first if you want to do tricks

A4s are better than 6 speeds and always get the traction. only reason i got beat by an M6 on the street is becuase he had a lid and muffler and the gear diffrences

Word, get gears or a converter and get it tuned. I get second and third gear scraches with my 11x17 F1's in the back with my tranny tuned and 3.73's...and I get plenty sideways.

Amen

A4 vs m6 is a never ending debate. I don't like to really say either is better I like m6 way better myself much easier to control I feel esp autoX RRing

A4 with a high stall will rip out of the hole better *more consistent*

I just like m6 better but neither is better just what you like and what you want car for.

I've had both.....I loved the M6 for daily driving. I felt like I had so much more control over the car. I could get it sideways through 3rd gear at over 50 MPH and it was nothing. Now my A4 scares the **** out of me when I get sideways. It starts to go and keeps going all the way. Not much chance to coutersteer and keep the wheels spinning while drifting to the side. However, much better at the track. And much faster than my M6 ever was. I wish I could have both.....but I'll stick with the A4 and get a stall, and I hear that it's over after that. It all depends on what you want. Fun factor goes to the M6 hands down. A4 will be faster all day long with a good stall.

Hold off on the headers and get a 3500 or more stall converter and you'll be amazed with the change. Best mod for the A4 hands down.

Check out Fuddle converters. They are affordable and great performance.

A properly stalled A4 will eat a m6 alive ion the same power range from a dig! Also helps on rolls but aren't races from digs? 6spds can be fun but awful in traffic. I wld get a 6spd if I was gonna auto x it. For drag nothing better than an auto with the right gears and stall.
