H/C or 12 bolt
Well after having a little talk w/my wife, I'm considering buying a 12 bolt, but I would need to sell my brand new ls2 heads and the F13 cam w/the springs kit. What do you guys think?

i say 12 bolt too...you obviously cant afford both, or you would do both. you do the H/C first, then one day something blows in the rear, and your stuck with a H/C car that wont move.

Are you auto or M6?
First 3 big mods I bought for my M6 car were a real clutch, a real driveshaft, and a 12 bolt. Then I put stickies on it and had a ton of fun at the track, even with a stock motor. Ya don't have to worry about leaving at the rev limiter with those 3 things. Just floor it, bap-bap-bap-bap-bap and dump the clutch on the 3rd yellow. Wee.

I say 12-bolt (or 9") now, H/C later. While I won't argue that it's more fun to make big power numbers, it's less fun to have your car out of commission because a part broke.

If you run street tires it'll spin a bit instead of dead hook.
I've got 420 rwhp and I flat out beat on my car when I drive on weekends. My gears are dead quiet and no problems after 5k miles. I bought the whole rear assembly from another Firehawk owner (with heads and cam) he used it for 4k miles before selling.
Worst case, you break it and you WILL find away to make the 12 bolt happen. I'd go heads and cam!

12 bolt then add your power. If you are an A4 car, then you will have some time if you race at the track. M6 cars are a bit harder on the shifts depending how hard your car hits/hooks hitting gears. You can easily do a cam then later on add your heads, cam only cars are alot of fun and some are very fast.
Just m .02 I did the rear before a cam because my car hooked really hard with exhaust and gears.

Damn guys, it is a hard choice. As far as losing money, I know I won't. My best time was a 12.7@110, with H/C it'll probably run the same e.t better MPH. Then you have to deal w/the people talking ****(ls1 h/c=slow) and I'd get so freaking tired of explaining(for them it'll be excuses) same **** over and over about the rear end thing. In the other hand, I can cut 1.5-1.6 and run low 12's maybe high 11's w/a pretty much stock LS1.
