Question What scanning software/hardware is available for LS2?

If I understand correctly the 2005 GTO (along with other LS2 applications) require scanning tools that are CAN compatible. Is this correct? In the past I've usually just scanned with Autotap, but, if this is true, it appears that my current Autotap setup is not compatible with the LS2 GTO.

Are there any hardware/software upgrades or other data-logging tools currently available that can be used to scan my LS2 GTO? I'm mainly concerned about monitoring the usual suspects like KR, spark advance, LTFTs, etc.

Thanks black01. I was aware that HPTuners VCM2.0 will scan/tune the LS2, but I already have an LS2Edit tune on it. I'm just looking to monitor KR and timing and such - not really looking to spend $500 and won't be doing any further tuning with it.

Okay, if anyone's interested, Joe at B&B Electronics tech support tells me that the Autotap ATU hardware is CAN compatible. They are running an upgrade special through the end of the year for their ATUATENDOM kit that supports GM, Ford, and Chrysler for $250. Ordered it yesterday and will report back how it works with the GTO...

I have been talking to Autotap, and while they have the basic OBD2 system working, they don't have vehicle specific "advanced" features yet. I haven't gotten a definite answer, but I think that means they can't log LTRMS etc yet, but are working on it.

I too have LS2 edit (and like it), but can do anything about my VE & MAF tables until there is a stand alone scanner out.

Why is there no way to order the LS2 based software on their web site?

Okay, just wanted to report back on the Autotap and my LS2. I ended up ordering the ATUATENDOM, which included the V3 hardware (red converter), enhanced parameters for GM/Ford/Chrysler, and V2.05 software. This did connect to the GTO and was able to read MIL/DTC info, but it did not recognize any of the "enhanced parameters". Actually I was not able to select any real time parameters at all. It worked fine on my other pre-CAN vehicles though. So this afternoon I downloaded V3.0 from the autotap website and that did the trick. I can now read all the parameters I tried (including KR, LTFT, STFT, advance, etc) on the LS2. So, bottom line is that for those looking to do some logging on your LS2, you can do it with the ATU and V3 software.
