Failed inspection!! help
I was failed on inspection for tint being too dark...meter read 12% min 20%.
The thing is...this is the same guy who has passed me for the past 3 years..its why I keep going back to him, he has never said anything about it till now. Anyone have recommendations...I dont really want to scrape my tint off. Fugger should of told me something before making me pay...SOB!!

You really don't have a choice on that one, I had to do the same thing a few months ago. Just get it re-tinted with a legal tint as it will save you a lot of the trouble in the future. Our cars attract enought attention as it is, and illegal tint is just one more reason to get pulled over.

Roll your windows down, and then take out the fuze for them. Tell the guy you have an appointment to get them fixed. Or have bring up your record of business with them and explain your case.

May be to late now, but all you have to do is put your windows down and take the fuse for the power windows out (that is if you have power windows) there is no Texas law saying that you have to have side windows.
Maybe take it back that way and see what they do.

"1. Inspect for and reject if:
a. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windshields:
1) Extends downward beyond the AS-1 line or more than five (5) inches from the top of windshield on vehicles without an AS-1 line. Measurements shall be taken from inside the windshield; or
2) Is red or amber in color.
b. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windows:
Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver, which open, have less than 20% light transmittance.
c. Check calibration before rejecting vehicle."
Therefore if your windows don't roll up they can't check it and its totally legit. If they give you any **** tell them to check the rules, specifically make sure they're looking at section 20.32 so you know they arn't bullshitting you. If they keep giving you **** threaten to call the DPS and tell them that they arn't following the rules.

I got pulled over the other day and the trooper put a meter on my window. It read 7%. I told him they were like that when I bought the car and I thought they were 20% like my last two cars (I really did). He let me off with a warning. I had been meaning to get them retinted anyway. I have tape holding the tint on my driver's and hatch windows.
I also got a warning about my taillight covers and lacking front plate (also like that when i bought the car). I got ticketed for going 82 in a 60 with expired proof of insurance.

damn, ur a smart one. the kid is just trying to protect any shop that is a friendly inspector. it's an open forum, to ANYONE, including police. the penalty for passing somebody is severe and we need to keep those places alive and kicking.
edit- if he had posted where it was located and a mod came through they actually would delete that info.

Like others have said, he's just trying to keep the shop from being caught.
If you have info on a mod friendly shop, PM the person that needs the info please.
Thanks,
Craig.
