Default 'smoothest' aftermarket shifter?

i've been stuck with the factory hurst and LSS for like 2 years now. i liked it at first, but now i pretty much hate it, heh. its so notchy and not smooth at all. are any aftermarket shifter smoother and 'easier' than this setup?
TIA

i know, most say pro 5.0 or ripper...but which one is the 'smoothest'? with my setup now, i just feel like i'm having the **** beat out of me if i have to shift often, around town and what not.

will the LSS fit the ripper?

The new ripper is a one piece design, you're stuck with what B&M sends. I just installed mine today and I like it a lot. As for smooth....feels smooth to me, nice positive short throws, just be sure to shove it in gear hard enough so it acutally is in gear. Me being used to my stock shifter for 7 years had some issues with that and 3rd gear at first, but I am used to it now, and it's all good.

get a pro 5.0 and a umi short stick.

I have a b&m ripper (older model) and they dont make aftermarket sticks, so my buddy cut it and welded it, knocked off 2 inches (cant go any lower than that) and its perfect.

hm, why would i need a UMI short stick if i've already got the LSS? i've read that the pro 5.0 is notchy as well, but if it's more precise and not so 'hard', i think i would be happier

Never been in a car with a Pro 5.0, so I can't really compare it for you. My buddy has a WS6 with a Pro 5.0, I'll check his shifter out next time I see him and let you know.

I've had a 5.0 for the last 4 months or so. It's very knotchy at first, but it gets a little smoother over time. Also, there's enough thread on the stick that you can take a hacksaw and cut the top 1" off. You're LSS should be compatible with it though. You may want to check their site though. They may have 2 seperate models for hurst and Pro 5.0. I could be getting that mixed up with another Short Stick though.

Look... the 5.0 is NOT smooth... I like it because i know excatly what gear i'm in and every gear feels a little different... i like that. I've felt a B&M and they are pretty darn smooth... if I were you, that would most likely be the shifter I'd buy when looking for something smooth

hmm..my main gripe about the stock shifter is how hard it 'beats' on you after driving it for a while...maybe all of them are like that?? i dunno..
ofcourse, it wasnt as bad when i had the stock shift stick, but it wasnt near as precise either, and i hate the tall *** stick
