Default How well would a yankss 4400 stall do on a stock ls1?

I am interested in going as fast as possible ... especially since I don't drive it all that much. How well would a 4400 stall do with a stock ls1, but also a lid, borla cat back and lt's?

I think you may consider shift extension. I am NOT a TC guru, by any means, but, I have a SS3800, and my shift extension is around 5200-5300 or so. I think with that high a stall, you might get too high, in the shift extension, and get out of the powerband in a basically stock car. I a may be wrong on this, but you may consider future mods'. If you plan on H/C later and what-not, that may be fine. I can only tell you from my experience. Basically, I think on a intake and exhaust car, that might be a little too high.

12.07 @ 111.42 (1.62), or at least that's how fast my car went with those mods. Went 11.95 @ 113.27 (1.64) with the addition of headers & ORY.

You can read more here:

IMO, it's the best converter for anyone serious about going fast with an A4.

If you can deal with a loose converter there is no other converter.

Whats the STR on one of these converters? .6 tenths would really get me to where I would like to be up here in the mile high city.

Im currently at a 13.5 and would like to break 12s, nobody around here thinks I can but I think I will with my bolt ons only.

When you first got your converter, did you have your stock rear, and what did you find best to launch at? Thanks for the info.

lots of the cam only, and S.I. cars are running converters w/ that stall speed. i think that's a great stall to start off w/ and grow into.

the shift extension is basically where the engine rpm will be after the trans shifts to the next gear. you dont want your shift extension too high cause you will then be out of your power band.

If that's some obscure jab at the ride height of my car, I've only got one response.

The STR is ~2.5 , IMO the higher STR is what makes the converter more drivable.

My car went 12.67 @ 108 (1.88) with the stock converter, then a week later a 12.07 @ 111 (1.62). Changes were basically the converter & tires (ET Streets)

So, yes, I'd say 6 tenths is possible with traction.

My shift extension on my Y3000 converter is 4400-4600 RPM, my motor is basically stock with lid & catback. I am running 3.73's and a TransGo shiftkit #3 washer.

This setup gives me all the thrills my old broken down a$$ can take.

Yank told me that my shift extension would be about 4250 with the SS3200 and 3.15 gears.
