dropping some weight! come in with more ideas
i dont want the car to look like its gutted.. im leaving the carpet and the factory stereo in...
but ive pulled just about everything else from a/c to heat shielding off the bottom, bumper supports... all the really obvious heavy stuff lol
now i did just get a new fuddle converter.. its 7.5lbs lighter then my tci.. 13lbs lighter then a midwest i have lying around... so i feel good about that
so that is 7.5lbs... now i want about 50 more off the prolly 3250-75ish raceweight
i was thinking of cuttin away some of the useless metal or swiss cheesing it like i saw in some pics.. where would you guys start? i really dont have a lot of money for lightweigh k-members and stuff

Those are kirkey seats. What about the front bumper support and sway bar. Also lightweight carpet, once speed inc figures out the weight. But i think you would get more off with a K member for a little more cash.

yea im thinking k-member, skinnies, and i might pull the carpet and lay down some black paint.. i just hate the way that ugly red looks with no carpet
see i have to add a 6 point bar or whatever.. i have a cam only ride, and its pretty light already, and has a 4000 converter and some other mods.. im thinknig im going to be under that 11.50 mark with any luck, so im trying to offset the weight of a rollbar

Oh and if you get a 5 point instead of a 6 point thats another 12 lbs lighter right there, get chromoly instead of mild steel and thats another few lbs, get the weld in instead of bolt in and thats another few lbs. You have to think about weight in everything you do to your car.
Things that i still have left to do is
Cut out door bar brackets
replace mild steel K member and A arms with chromoly
rear race brakes and take out E brake stuff
weld my aluminum seats to the aluminum seat brackets to get rid of steel bolts and nuts
swiss cheese my seats
swiss cheese my rear frame rails in the trunk area
chop up my steel gastank to only hold about 7 gallons, kinda like a homemade fuel cell.
I was going to get a pin on hatch, hood and lexan glass but I think thats too race carish for me. Maybe when i make it into a real race car and i don't drive it as much.

Many events require you to have carpet. It's based on which class you are running, but most classes at most events I have been to require carpet. Don't know if you plan on "officially" competing in your car, but if so, keep this in mind.
