Cool My expirience with Royal Purple...

Im pleased with the results so far. I was using Mobil 1 5w30 and it wasnt bad but I had a little valvetrain noise? or at least it was making a ticking noise. Which is very common on these cars. After asking around for Oil recommendations, Alot of people said AMSOIL was a very good choice but since I didnt know where to buy it around here, I went with Royal Purple. Redline was also available but I just went with the Purple.

So, I changed my Oil and guess what, valvetrain noise is still there, Not as much, But still there. I heard AMSOIL quiets the car down but I dont know if its a litle or completely.

Im pleased, I like it. I will be trying other brands and see what I like the best. AMSOIL is next and then Redline.

Are you cammed with pushrods and springs? cause you are gonna have increased valvetrain noise if that is the case.

wait until you have 3000 hard road driven miles on the car. I feel that RP is great for racing but not for everyday driving. It seemed to have the consistancy of water after 3000 miles.

Royal Purple's Racing 41 is a great choice for the LS1, but I would not recommend their 5w30 or 10w30, both of them thin out too quickly.

Yes, I've read some reports on BITOG that RP 5W-30/10W-30 shears out of grade prematurely, but some engines have good luck with it. I'd recommend an oil analysis of the RP to see how it held up when you drain it.

I know quite a few guys locally that swear by RP, and they seem to have good results from it.

You must me more sensitive to your car than I am to mine, because I can go from synthetic to conventional (or versa visa) and not notice a difference.

You say you're pleased and that you like it. Exactly, what differences are you experiencing from the Mobile One you had in it?

I've seen many oil analysis reports where people have run their racing oil in their daily drivers and have gone 6000 miles or more and the oil still has a very strong TBN. So it's definitely capable of being used on the street for slightly extended oil change intervals.

I used to use Mobil 1 10W30 and it would clog up my pcv valve and always seem to run thin! I now only use Royal Purple 10W40 and my WS6 loves it! I use Royal Purple in the tranny and rear as well. Micropolishes bearings

Yes. Very good oil, quiets slight engine noises, and has been getting great reviews:

Talking

I use the 0w30 German Castrol and K&N filter. I like both.
