yes, definately. My setup sounds great. Its loud w/out being ear-splitting, and has a deep tone to it. No matter what mufflers you go with, nothing sounds better than td's imo.

If you want loud all the time, get a cutout. If you want it here and there with the flip of a switch, get an electric cutout. Either will give you what you want in terms of loud, but you got to decide if you want it all the time or whenever you want.

Default Hello JWHert

Hi and btw, Merry Christmas. What everyone forgot to tell you is get a good size cam, about 230/236 110LSA, increase your lift to .570/.570, Vig 3200 stall, jethots w/catted Y-pipe to keep hp off your a***, and then you'll be loud, trust me. That is what I got for my b-day in September and it RoCkS. If you haven't driven a modified F-body, it's like awesome, everything shakes like the engine wants to fly. Having the true duals, cutouts, etc. is ok but a nice loppy cam is number one in my books. Try it, later, Kevin.

True duals would definately be loud, but I'd wait until you put headers on it to go that route. I put an electric cutout on mine, under the rear pass. seat, and it sounded alot better. But then I wanted it louder, so I gutted the cats and put o2 sims on it, and it's definately alot louder now. Cheaper than TDs too, and I can make it halfway quiet by shutting the cutout off.

Try a good size cam, I promise you, it'll be totally different than what you're used to. Later

i am definately going for a cam one day, but for now gas is too high and i dont wanna kill my gas mileage, and im a college student w/ no job

cam is out of my price range for now, thats why i was thinking about td's though, because i hear they sound great w/ a nice agressive cam

what is a cutout?
i know what it sounds like, but im not sure if im thinkin of the right thing

Just run open headers with a big cam, high compression, and big valves. That is as loud as it can get.

Buy some longtubes. They'll change your car's sound so much.

Hi jwhert, answer to your question is this. Long tube is usually 30-32 inches and mid length is about 19 inches. The power band is cut off with the mid length about 4-5k rpm, where as the long tube just keep increasing with the rpms. Mid lengths usually have more torque on the low end and power decreases as the rpms increases. I hope this answers your question. Later, Kevin.

Mine is loud enough at the moment. My pregnant wife drives the car alot, so I can't make it much louder. I've heard plenty of cars with huge cams, like my '69 with the FM15 and open headers

If it was me, I'd probably get Pacesetter LTs, a Dr. Gas X-pipe, and two mufflers of your choice. Personally, I like the sound of 1-chamber Flowmasters. There are lots of choices as far mufflers goes.

Hi jwhert, go with a bigger cam instead of wasting your money on true duals. The money you spend on true duals isn't going to be worth it, especially when these new f-bodies have such minimum space for anything underneath. I have the 80 series flowmasters and will be changing them for Magnaflows. I'm tired of the low, low tone and want something more. Like I said earlier, changing your cam and your lift will make your car much loader with 80+ more hp and torque. Later, Kevin.
