Question Stay away?

2000 Camaro SS

Ad stated it's an automatic and has Z06 chrome wheels.. you guys can obviously tell the difference. I emailed and asked him about this and first off stated this wasn't in NY but in NV because he moved and went on and on about how great the car looks and feels but never answered my questions. Then said he would be willing to let it go for $4500 shipped to my door.

im no pro... but it seems weird. its posted as auto, described as stick, then pics show auto... The guy doesnt know the rims... are the lug nuts mismatched, or do some of them have covers? sounds a little sketchy, but it could be fine, check it out, get someone that knows what the car should feel like to drive it for you. The seller sounds like he is trying to get rid of it... be careful.

Those are just black covers to cover the factory open-ended lugs. I have those on my ZR1s too.

Honestly, I could see someone that doesn't really know F-bodies/Vettes making a mistake and calling ZR1 wheels "ZO6" wheels......BUT, how in the hell can you confuse trans type? Seriously, it's not like he just accidently checked off a box for "manual" when it's actually an auto. First, he lists it as an auto, then takes pics of an auto shifter, but then specifically writes in detail....."6-speed manual w/hurst shifter". WTF? Any fool can see that this isn't a 6-speed. And then he moves clear across the country and doesn't bother to change the listed location from NY to NV?

That price seems crazy too. Assuming the car runs fine, KBB says his price should be in the $9K-11K range depending on condition, even with that many miles. And he only wants $4500 SHIPPED?

Personally, I'd just stay away from the whole situation.

I'd say it's a scam. The same thing happened to a friend of mine. The seller said he had recently moved to England, but the truck was still in Austrailia. He gave the same bogus "shipped to your door" deal, and a bunch of other to good to be true promises. Thankfully, my friend didn't go through with sending payment. My friend found out that the truck he was trying to buy was being scammed when he later found the very same truck for sale by the actual owners in Michigan. He later drove up to Michigan and bought it.

I'd have to say the pictures here and the car he is trying to sell are 2 different things. He says it has Z06 wheels on it. This car obviously has ZR1s. OK rookie mistake. But he lists the car as being white. I'm as color blind as anyone on this planet, but I can tell that car isn't white. I would stay away. Why hasn't he listed the vin# so you could do a background check on it? I'd also think jrp is right. Could have a salvaged title. Meaning it was stolen or wrecked before.

No response.. I'll just forget it and save up for a lower mileage SS/Z28 since I plan on using it for a daily driver anyway. I don't want to get caught up in a mess for my first Camaro

Exactly that's a whole lot of miles to be looking so mint as the pictures show. Maybe the PICS are old or something just seems a little odd. looks like he took PICS of another car, cause nothing matches up.

If he's offerring the car *shipped* it's prolly a phony escro service (is that what their called?) Like

www.dasautoshipperss.com as opposed to www.dasautoshippers.com. That was one of the scams I got, but alittle common sense goes a long way.

The link might be disabled cause I reported it to autotrader

Edit: oh yeah, a lot of phony sales are marked at zips in NYC for some reason. If you're local he prolly said he moved so the info was wrong so that you'd HAVE to get it shipped over.

Smart move. That's what I'd recommend.

It still has the plastic on the carpet like a new car. Look at the floor mats and you will notice this.

I would stay away, but its not impossible for a old car to look nice, I have 139k miles on my car and it looks brand new * unless you look on the drivers side where the molding USED to be, god damn that pisses me off *

EDIT

Oh yea, dont look at my drivers seat either, some fat *** had it before me and slid his back fat all over it.
