Default Any problems spraying meth through the MAF?

this will be my first time playing with meth, installing it on a 500rwhp 3.8L fbody , their maf's are built into the throttle body, anyone see a problem spraying it through the MAF?

thanks,

I was told by AlkyControl to not do that. Meth is corrosive.....but if you have an extra you could try it out. ;-)

Yes...it needs to be sprayed down line from the MAF. It will cause problems and cause a failure of the MAF in no time at all.

Are you intercooled? If so, perhaps spraying prior to the IC will give you the reduced temps without subjecting the MAF to possibly degrading solvent.

Alternatively, you might be safe if you spray a mixture of 50:50 methanol/distilled water.

Just ideas, I'm no expert.

Good luck,

Rich

How quickly would the MAF go out if I were to spray it? I might just install the kit, drive back to Dallas and then get a LS1 MAF and get it retuned or something before the MAF goes out......

Thanks,

it may not damage the MAF, but as soon as you hit the element with any water the reading will go nuts. I'd be more concerned with the erractic fuel delivery breaking the motor than killing the MAF.

Perhaps you can drill the TB towards the back, and tap the outside for the fitting...

figures....

I don't like the idea of tapping hte back of the TB in fear of unproper distribution of the meth, its too close to the intake runners for a good mix.

Sure we can run race gas, but noone likes having to go to a race shop to fill up

just trying to get a little more out of it on pump gas, thats why he went with tthe standard meth kits out there, more readily available refills and good results. But seems we have a problem anyway so 93 only it is...

Tiago, try going over to ClubGP.com and do a search on their forum for meth. I know of a lot of W-body 3800 guys spraying meth, but I don't know where the actual plumbing goes. You probably will find some how-to's on the forum. A guy in Oklahoma (forum name Devildoc - sp? Maybe Devldoc? First name Bilal) is/has built many meth kits for the W-body 3800 crowd at reasonable prices. He could probably steer you in the right direction if you can't find anything with search. Also check their classifieds for used TB's (MAF in it) for a spare. They're the same as yours.

ZZPPerformance.com sells LS1 TB/MAF setups for the 3800. You may already know all this, but HTH.

It won't work. If you get the MAF wet it will peg full reading, just like water on the maf. Car will run like crap.

If you are worried about distribution why not just direct port the intake? 8 Small nozzles.
