Default procharger guys with twin intercoolers/small IC fans

has any of you ever use the small spal fans to pull up air threw the IC's

i have a set but never put them on because i switched over to FMIC and i was just wondering if they have any effect on temps.

I have set ready to install, just have not got around to it. I figure it can not hurt. Even thinking about going to the newer larger core, as well. Ya I now why not try a FMIC----dont want to hack up the front of the car.

Interesting idea, haven't seen that before.
How fast can they pull air through the IC's? Would it be similar to driving at say 50-60mph but your not moving?

It will not be the same as driving 50-60 but it will help. The benefit of a front mount is not only the amount of air available but the pressure it has to push through it. There is no fan on the market that could duplicate the amount of static pressure that is available to a front mount.

would you have to remove the lower air dams? I would think those fans would try to negate the air trying to move upward due to the dam on the bottom.

i think of it as just helping the air get threw the ic's better. i mean if you look at how the twins are mounted it doesn't seem that they would get much air evenly.618hawk keep us updated

I think a better idea would be to make some scoops that you bolt to the intercoolers using the holes from the rubber air dam thing they have on them. I was planning on doing this before selling the kit.

If you do remove the wheel well the rotation of the tire at speed will create a negative pressure and will aid in the fans pulling through the core.

i also thought of making scoops for them too. but didn't want to scoop up crap that can get caught in there like leaves or rocks that can damage the fins. and other stuff like, maybe racoons, gohpers, possums, small dogs

Yes with scoops your asking for damage. The rubber flaps get banged up and bent back enough. Can just imagine what kind of damage would be inflected with some rigid scoops,........ and on a lowered car forget it.
My problem is that on a hot day in stop and go traffic there is just not enough air moving there the intercoolers, and you can see IAT,s rise.

I would think the fans would help at low speeds or cruising but create a restriction to flo at higher speeds. Also, since the twin intercoolers work off the pressurized pocket created under the front bumper. I thought about cutting louvers in the splash sheilds on each side to relieve pressure within the bumper cover and making some small deflectors in front of the wheel opening like the new Z06 to help create a negative pressure in the wheel well.

Removing the rear hood seal seems like it would also help relieve pressure in the engine compartment and also help behind the front cover.

Just some thoughts, everything helps.

On the TA's since the IC's are mounted right behind an air inlet on the front bumper (under the running lights), it might be useful to make scoops on the top of the IC instead of the bottom, pushing air down over the IC instead of up.

I dont know this for a fact but it would seem that more air will be pushed through from the underside than would ever flow through the vents.
Also, any extra air/turbulance/ pressure introduce on top of the cooler will hurt air flow from the under side.
