Default New Lid or K&N FIPK???

Which is better, A new Lid(SLP) or the K&N FIPK intake? The FIPK would seem to flow a lot more air becuase its just a big oval filter, but i don't hear mutch about this mod, only the aftermarket lid.
Help a LS1 newb out.

I say get the lid and filter. The lid provides cooler air from outside the engine compartment with less air just being pushed throughout the engine compartment. Where the FIPK sucks the air that is already in the engine compartment which is warmer. Plus the lid is much cheaper.

Lid and filter, do you research on brand / pricing before you just buy a SLP lid. Mine fit perfect, others say they fit like crap. Plenty of brands out there and sponsors that can offer good prices (especially better than SLP's website)

I have the K&N with FTRA on the bottom. I like it but I saw no gain from it over a lid. But no loss either. I think it is just what look you want under your hood.

What I have
I have a K&N filter also.

I thought the sealed effect would work better. I'll soon do the FRA just cause its free.

I'd vote lid as well.

Ive had both....and I saw no diffrence between the two...The lid was cheaper but the FIPK loks way cooler..I say all things being equal...keep your eye on open for someone dumping their FIPK and get that...

00SS4780 ... dose that opening help..do you get much water up that high?

Ive thought of doing the same thing to my plate..

Yes I do believe that the opening helps. You can see where the opening is on the bottom side of the filter where there is alway more trash on it. I have only drivin mine in the rain a hand full of times but had no problems. If you were scared of it you could always close it up when it was raining.
