Enough BS,lets see dyno #s for ebay intercooled cars
Ive tried for days to find some people making BIG power with an ebay IC. Ive talked to soo many people and read though so many threads that im sick. Lets drop all the hear say and post some dyno #s of cars running the 4" xs power intercoolers. Some temp readings would be the most important thing of big power cars, so lets see them too.
Thanks
Im trying to see if their are drawbacks of this ic on a motor making ~1000rwhp. Im not the smartest, but, it seems that the way the endtanks are setup on the ebay ic is inefficient to say the least. Do the tanks, having the i/o both on the bottom, only allow half of the ic to work?Im thinking of maybe getting one and chopping off one end tank and flipping it around. Seems like it would utilise more of the core for cooling, no?
Thanks

Didn't you read my post We are over 800hp with only 14lbs so far limited only by the fuel system right now.
Just finished a 96 Impala with a Vortech that litterally gained 100hp/100tq by just adding a OBX intercooler --no tune change except richening the A/F for the power.
How about the 4.8l truck we did that pushes 16lbs of boost so far(fuel limited again) .Going through 3 gears the intake temp started at 85 degree's and topped off at 105 degree's -- 0 -120mph.
Now,if your building a mostly drag car you want an air to water and run alot of ice.

i havent dynoed my car yet, still trying to finish it up, i got to finish fabbing the coolant lines then finish wiring up my car.
the two big power maker on the boards here with 4" obx are PurEvil (dynoed-built-tuned by the above Slowhawk) and KP who has ran 9.8's with a supercharged d1.
I did make a post though of how i cut and flipped the endtanks then rewelded them, hoping to pick up some cooling gain.
your not the first to kind of mess me and slowhawk up before

Whoops, yea i fugged the name, sorry. I think im going to give one a try becuase of the success you had slowhawk Slow- you didnt even flip the endtanks did you, $250 out the door no modifications, 800rwhp+@14psi, sounds pretty impressive. You didnt happen to have any temp readings on the 800+ run did you?
How much of a cooling benefit do you guestimate if the tanks were cut and flipped?
Thanks

This was in reference to the 3" version OBX type
my brand i have is actually a xspower, which looks just like the obx

Are the XSpower and OBX the same thing? Purevl, which one do you have?
TRT-I talked to you yesterday on the phone about the 4" and trying to pass 1000rwhp mark on my car. Doing some research before I buy
TRT- the other core you sell, what makes it better?

As you can see, it works well.

Havent dynoed, but trapspeed is 141mph, race weight 3480
2005 widh an OBx style 4" IC Iat went from 90 to 130 under a 10sec pass (90 in the air). 17psi from an F1 (LT1 383 ported TFS heads), PS Also inject little water/etanol widh an M5 nossel and it lower the IAT to around 110degrees over the finishline...
2004 widh twin "highflow" IC IAT was 104 to 173 (11.0sec) on a 90 day (383 LT1 ported stock heads 12psi from a P1sc)

Lisa is that off the shelf obx? No endtank chop and reverse?

So many people have a hard time believing that this cheap intercooler does a very good job. I guess that old saying, "You get what you pay for" doesn't apply in this case.
