i just painted mine but you have to clean them real well before you paint, and I must say the calipers looked f'ing bad *** all cleaned up and high polished, thats how mine looked before i painted mine red

same here.....I was like **** I should just put them up the way they look now.....but I painted instead

This'll do what you need:

Before you start with the buffing compounds in that kit, I would suggest hitting the calipers with some 220, 320, 360, 400, and 600 grit sandpaper. It will cut down on the time you'll have to buff with the emery (black) compound ALOT.
Try not to get frustrated too quickly. Polishing takes lots of patience and lots of practice.

It was a lot of work, and I was just sanding them down smooth prepping for paint

I used this kit. Worked great. I would suggest buying one extra wire brush (#428) and maybe a cloth wheel (#423) or two for the polish.

Is it worth it. I mean is it worth $250.00 of work considering I've never polished anything before?

$250?! Pffft, come up to Orlando and I'll do all 4 for 100. It's really easy, it's just tedious as all hell. You can do it with basic stuff found in your garage. If you have a power drill, a paint and rust stripper, a sanding block, metal polish, and sandpaper from 220-800, you can do it yourself.
