Exclamation decided on buying 4.10's but need feedback

for my M6 I decided to go with 4.10 but still couldn't decide about the brand. I've heard GM is noisy and richmand is no good. Slp is pretty spendy, around 230$ and I don't even know are they good or not. Also should I consider buying used? Help this noob

Thanx in advance

SLP's are fine, they're stock GM gears, I think. I just put them on my 2000 T/A. I'm still breaking them in, but I can tell that I love them already. Quiet as a mouse...

[EDIT] Recent revelation: I can go with a lot bigger cam now than I would have before installing 4.10's. I was planning on putting in an F13: power band starts out relatively low (2500, or a bit lower on a 112+2) but big torque and HP. With the 4.10's I don't worry about low-end torque any more or power bands that start at 3000 RPM. I've decided to go with the F14 instead (always liked the F14 idle better than F13, anyway).

Depends on the miles and condition. It could be risky, but I bet a fair number of people try the 4.10's and opt for a smaller ratio, and so sell them barely used. It can be a big change from stock... If they're used, be sure to check the Ring and Pinion teeth for wear and evenness of wear. Look at that pinion reeeeal good. You're still going to need an install kit, and can probably get away with a basic one. You may have to run up to the auto parts store for new carrier or pinion bearings though, if they the old ones are pitted or cracked.

You guys should try the search button, people have covered their gear selections in great detail...

I use both richmond & motive without a problem..

so there is not a bad brand out there pretty much all the same. It's all about installation and a simple tool from schucks or whatever will do just fine?

I'm hip. I just finished breaking mine in, and I love the quickness off the line. Unfortunately, I'm going to install a new clutch next week, so I'll have to baby it for another 500+ miles

Smoke 'em up!

installation is to detailed and scared me, i am going to return them. About breaking in i've heard this: drive easy for 5miles and let it cool for an hour, then drive 10 miles let it cool again then 20,30 till 300miles and change the oil. That's messed up
