Default Is it just me?

Or does this sound like a strange deal? Dealer has a deep red 00 trans am, non ram air, 6spd, leather, with 11k miles for $19 grand. The original and only owner put on ram air hood, lid, and slp exhaust. Kelly blue book says without ram air, retail value is $13,900. With ram air it is $15,450. Both of these prices the car is considered in Excellent condition. What's up with that? I talked to the saleman and he said that they added 3grand to the price because of the hood and exhaust. At that point I just laughed. He asked me if I was trading in and I said I was still debating. Then he told me I could buy the car outright for 17grand Something seems fishy to me but I dont know what a good price would be.

Tell him what the bluebook is and that you arent willing to pay more than the retail if he says well sorry we cant do that leave and find something else....That low of miles though does cost a little more but if you total it the company wont give you what you paid only what its "worth"....

there are better deals ...I'd pass on this one. For some reason dealers think they can add a few grand on to the price

Whats it worth to you... forget what they are asking.... If you'd be willing to pay $16k... Then offer them 16k and if they won't accept it... walk. I never pay attention to what dealers are asking... I look at the car and decide what it's worth to me... If I want it I offer what I'll pay... If they say no, I just tell them thanks and leave... often times they'll stop you or call you back and accept your offer.. If not.. keep looking.

haha if only it were that easy. Whenever a half-way decent car shows up, there always ends up being something wrong with it. Or maybe Im just too particular, but can you blame me? Just like the sig says, soon...

Default Why Not A Real Ram Air???

Seems to me that for what they want for the car you could buy a real one with documentation, probably with similar miles. I saw a Firehawk with 32000 miles for 18,500. If you can get a loan from the bank yourself do that so you can buy from aprivate seller. Only way to go. Good Luck

you have the right idea, this is the time of year to buy one, more motivated sellers to be selling and less demand this time of year by my logic drives the prices down some. Plus you beat the spring buyers to the one you want. I was hounding the dealer for at least a month to let me come see the car, but it was in the shop getting a new clutch he said. I kept calling so he started telling me I had first dibs on the car. Still though, I wasn't stupid enough to let it fall through the cracks since it was perfect for what I wanted. I said I'd think about it, then called on the way home and sealed the deal over the phone with 4 new tires on her included :-)

Dealers like to do that. But when you are trading a veichle with aftermarket parts they dont give you **** for them. I had that expereince with a Civic I was looking at. It had rims. I told the sales men that there price is 2 grand to high. He said well its got a $1000 in wheals and tires. Then I said exactly what I said in the second sentance. And I said well take the rims off since I dont want to rice it out I just need a reliable car. Oh well thats the way dealers are.

I would go to them and tell them NADA or KBB take your pick says it is only worth this and I will pay no more than that for it. And when they refuse your offer walk away. Maybe they will change there mind maybe not, my experince is they will.

With 11k miles I say 17 is a good deal but try to offer 16...last summer I paid 15.5 for my 2001 w/73k and it was the lowest I could find anywhere. Plus it just happened to be an hour and a half away after looking at dozens of cars 500-1200 miles away.

NADA on it was 18 something but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

If it's of any help, I got my 2001 A4 TTop SS w/ Black Leather an Monsoon etc yadda yadda ( so ya know the options) 17 SLPs with BFGs on em with 41k for $15,560 .. They ( Dealership) was asking 19,9 when I walked on the lot at a *blow out sale price* BS,, Do yourself a favor, buy a car LAST Three days of the month, and don't sweat top numbers, figure out what your payments would be at your financial inst. I did, then told the salesman etc I need to be @ 265 etc a month, walked out at 296 a month financing 15.5 etc I sold cars a LONG time, if you can buy a rear wheel drive in the winter months and ALWAYS the last week of the month, when they are lookin for quota.. always get a better deal

I picked up my loaded 2002 Z28 with 11K for $17,000. The only option it did not have was the SS. I think 17 is a pretty decent price.

they are trying to sell it for a ws6 price it seems and with low miles they might get it or close to it.

some real ws6s go over 20 grand with like 25k miles and such, they might not fly off the show room or lot but they do eventually sell them it seems around here at least.

if its a md dealer u could maybe say like 17k out the door or something, that would include taxes / tags / title, try to get a good warranty also.

its doesnt sound fishy but they are trying to make money also, they probably got it for like 12 to 13 grand are are trying to make a few.

does it have t-tops?

I cant believe you are still looking around, good luck.

Its just money for that money i'd find a 01 / 02 and jsut buy it, drive it, and enjoy it for while. dont worry about mods yet believe me they are quick already

Its not a MD dealer, and yes, Im still looking for the right trans am. I mean Im kinda picky, but cmon. Youre from Md, you can kind of understand. Im going for an 01/02 trans am for no more than 18 or 19 grand out the door with somewhat decent mileage. Gotta be leather, t-tops, and definitely 6 speed. Is that so much to ask? haha.

Verts are the ugliest cars on the road, no offense.

If the price ain't right and you aren't feeling the car in general, WALK, I don't care how long it takes to find the right one, it will come along sooner or later.

Oh, maybe you saw one with a billet grille though, I'd be more likely to agree then...

haha its funny u say that because i remember some fat *** sales manager chasing me out the door saying 11,700, 11,700, 11,700... etc etc.... i had told them 11,500. they called me the next day saying 11,700 and i said 11,600. ended up giving them the 11,700. not bad considering the car booked at 18,500 at the time.
just make the offer that u want to pay if they say no i KNOW u will find another car. good hunting bud
