to turbo, or not? first off, im new to the horsepower/torque world, so dont laugh 
but i was just wondering why dont some people, who are stiff on money and dont wanna do a whole lot to their car, just put in a turbo and boost their hp that way, without adding much of anything else?
gotta feeling im about to get spanked here...

Because:
A. Turbo setups are not cheap or easy to install/tune
B. Becaue if you turbo the car then you will break the tranny (a4) or the rearend (m6)
C. Even if you dont break anything you wont be able to put the power to the ground, you need tires, suspension, stall (a4) ect...

Big boost isn't the cheapest way to make power, if you want to make big power for only a little $$$ go with a cam. (But you will still need exhaust, headers, intake ect...)

most importantly.. there is more to a turbo setup that a supercharger.... you need to do all the fuel mods that you would with a s/c.... you would also have to have the tune like a s/c (but a lil different)... unlike bolt on a s/c, you have to run a lot of exhaust pipes and such.
You can get away with a cheap turbo setup if yo ua rea a great fabricater and can afford a lot of downtime on your car.

I will speak from current experience that you'd better have a bucket of money and a lot of patience if you plan on going with a turbo setup. I would say it's a little easier and cheaper to go with a blower... but not much.
Unless you can do all the work yourself. Including the tuning. Or if you can find a very experienced shop that has performed quite a few installs on your system of choice... at least then you won't be without the car for very long.
If you're one of those "stiff on money and dont wanna do a whole lot to their car" people, I'd say go with nitrous.

I would go for an STS rear-mount kit, and get it as complete as possible. It's cheap and let's you get a great performance increase. They are built with a lean budget in mind... and although not the ideal turbo setup, they get the job done at a great price. Definitely decent bang for the buck.
