I started vacuuming the driver's rug when I noticed the gas pedal falls right on top of my rug on WOT. I move it out of the way and noticed that with the rug in the way the pedal actually goes down a tiny lil bit farther until it hits the floor.

I've heard a lot of people joke about this, but would that tiny little bit (about the width of the rug, or maybe a tiny bit less when my foot is jammed on it) actually affect my WOT performance at all? Or should the TB be completely open before the pedal hits the floor?

Well, I've found the angle of my foot and where I put the pressure on the pedal affects the TB movement more than the carpet did. Guess you could always put the carpet in and have a friend go WOT and look at the TB and see if it opens any more without the carpet it.

As long as the ECU is reading WOT it shouldn't make a BIG difference, but every little change in air flow can help.

i dunno but i cant see that 1/8 of an inch being much considering when you stomp on it the carpet will absorb it and not really stop it

I remember an article in some Hot Rod, GM High Tech, or the like magazine where a guy with a Monte Carlo SS or Buick GNX(this was a long time ago) had this happen and no BS gained about 2 tenths with the floor mats out, lol. If it's not getting 100% floored, it's not floored, or it could be taking a 1/10 of a second longer to get the pressure of your foot through the mat. Dumb, yes, funny, yes, true...yes.

If you have HP Tuners it will tell you if your TPS is at 100%

How much do HP tuners usually run? and do they work with 98s? I know most programmers don't.

Don't need HP tuners for that. Any good OBD scanner will give you that info. I use AutoTap to get readings like that.

You don't even need to buy your own, just find someone local with a scanner similar to atap, etc.,.....

I took Azhigher's advice, and I don't know why I didn't think of that. I had my little brother mash the pedal and I checked to see if the tb opened all the way, and it did. So I guess that solves that, but thanks for all of your input.

you can look at it when the motor isnt running, just remove the intake and push the pedal down and let him tell you if its all the way open
