Default Heads/Cam for ATI ProCharger D-1SC

I have a couple of questions. My setup is a 1990 Mazda RX-7 w/ an LS-1/T-56 from a 99 F-Body. The drivetrain is mostly stock with the exception of an LS6 intake and an RPS clutch and lightweight flywheel (which I love BTW).

Moving forward with the car I have decided to supercharge it with an ATI ProCharger D-1SC. Anyone know where I can obtain the best pricing on the GTO kit?

I'm trying to pick a head/cam package that I can put in place now that would give me some gains now. Then allow me to really see some significant benefits once the ProCharger is installed. Has anyone been through a similar experience? Any suggestions on what to look for?

Thanks!

What were the specs on your cam? Was this on the stock bottom end?

What kind of numbers do you want?

What is your budget like?

We may be able to throw some ideas out that meet your criteria.

I know a guy that had a D1 @ 10lbs, 346, old Patriot heads, and a 230/236 595/604 114 cam and he was at 636H/535T and I think that was before going to a FMIC too. With a similar setup except w/ some new AFR heads w/ 72 mm cc's you could better that. You could also think about a ported FAST 90 intake or a GMPP (if you have room) and your numbers should be awesome. Good luck.

I would like to be in the 550-600RWHP range. For heads/cam I can spend up to $2K, but would prefer to be closer to $1,500.

I will be running a FMIC; I have a pretty large one left over from my Turbo II. Unfortunately I cannot use the FAST 90 without extensive hood modifications.

Thanks for the info.

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=22

Check out the '86 RX7 above, that we took and modified an ATI ProCharger D-1SC GTO kit, and installed it. This car is currently at 570 rwhp on our Mustang Chassis Dyno!
Patriot Performance LQ9 stage 3 heads, and the Comp grind that we used on the turbo Covette and STS Camaro SS would work really well for your RX7. The specs can be found in my project car section in those cars links.
Give me a call for a great price on the GTO kit, we can delete the intercoolers for your application, and their plumbing, since you'll be doing a front mount. Bob

PM Sent.

BTW - The 86 RX-7 on your website is what made my final decision to do with the ProCharger over a custom turbo setup. Thank you for detailing your current projects. I'm now in love with the CTS-V project you guys have going.

NICE project! For less $ you can pick up a set of 6.0L (317 casting) heads on Ebay & have them ported & put in big valves. Then you'd have bigger chambers & ports & spend about 1/2 of what aftermarket heads cost. That is the route I took. And I have a custom grind from Cam Motion. Those guys know their stuff! (so does Bob at Exotic Perf from what I can tell) I will dyno today & post numbers later.

Our CNC ported LQ9 heads would be great for this setup. On the stock bore we can do them in a 2.05"/1.57" with a 72cc chamber. These will lower your compression and flow great. They will be fitted with Ferrea 6000 series valves, Patriot Gold dual springs, ti retainers, super 7 locks, machined spring bases, viton seals, and bronze guides. These are available from any of our retailers, many of which are sponsors on this site for $1295.00 per pair assembled.

We have used these heads on many of the engine builds that can be found in the project car section of my website. Bob

In that case, save your $$ on the heads, and just get a good blower cam. Check my sig for those numbers and we castrated my car on timing due to the stock bottom end, but I bet we could hit 700 if I had the ***** to do it.

Also don't wast money on the FAST as well. An LS6 intake is all that's needed to let the cam breathe.

With the money you save from the heads, you can round out your fuel system and traction needs.

gunners' heads are good and i agree with drewstein i think the fast intake is the biggest waste of money.
