Default LT1 True Duals? - Help A Newbie...

Allow me to spew for a moment .
I've traditionally been a hard-core Mopar guy so I'm fairly new to the whole SBC/F-Body crowd, though I had a few friends with LS1s.

I recently bought a pretty little bone-***-stock '94 Z28 (M6) as a daily driver. Needless to say, it wasnt long before I wanted to get under the hood and start tearing things apart (as usual). Of the list of things I have in mind, a good true-dual exhaust system is one of them. Anyone know a good setup to use? My requirements are simple: I dont want to pay more for it than the car is worth and I want a good power return but I also want to pass emissions. Is there a company out there that actually makes an out-of-the-box LT1 true dual setup?

I'd appriciate any help you can offer. Thanks in advance!

P.S. if you want more info (intended mods, etc.) dont be afraid to ask. Thanks again.

-Josh

I have seen LS1 with a Dr.Gas X pipe but it hung pretty low. I have never really looked any further than that.

I dont think anyone makes an out of the box kit for any year LT1. As for close to kit you could do this
*Summit or Jegs X pipe kits 99.99
*Bullets, Xr1s, Spiro Pros, Sweet thunders
*hangers, flanges, and then some labor
There are a few guys on here that can voutch for the x pipes and its not to hard to get it all working.

the emissions is going to be the hard part.
your going to have to run a catted h or x pipe, and your going to have to have it exit over the axle.

and really if the emission station wants to get nit picky you already failed by moving the cats

if you ask me, all that works not going to be worth it.

might just want to look into a 3 inch single cat back kit, or you can go with a 4 inch mufflex

Emissons who needs them lol, its all in who you know, plus with a 95 and lower car you wouldnt have to have any. I ain't running any emisson on my stock 94 right now and when i drop the 398 in will prolly running true duals and dumps of the axle.

I live in AZ where only 1966 and earlier cars are exempt , so "not worrying about it" is a great way to have my car trailer'd. As far as a cat-back system goes, how does a GMMG flow? I think they sound awesome but I'm really going for performance rather than sex appeal (I'm sexy enough ). Tell me what you think/know...

Also what headers should I go with. I have heard negative and positive things about Edelbrocks d/r headers but I dont know who to believe. What about BBK? So many choices... its overwhelming.

Thanks in advance.

I figured that, but the required time to more or less custom fabricate a dual setup is greater than what I have/want to expend. After all, it is my primary transportation and just has to get me back and forth to work.

I already have a hard core track car

If for that reason, i would look at the GMMG or Borla. For looks and sound.

Thats why I was asking of the power gains a GMMG system produces. Even if they are positive, its a fairly expensive system. Anyone know a retailer/dealer/distributor that might carry and slightly discount a GMMG aftercat setup?

I live in NC they use the old way of inspecting cars on the 95 and lower cars. All i got to do is roll and check my head lights honk the hong and bang the inspection sticker is on lol. On the 96 up the pluging the computers up to the cars cause of that OB2 bullshit. But if you have your car tuned out with all the emissions codes deleted outta your computer you shouldnt have any trouble passing the emissons test. Alot of my friends have LS1's and they have no cats running long tubes and Bullets off the headers and TSP true duals. But theres a guy that lives in this town that does true duals for LT1's cause a good friend of mine has his running out the back of his car. Only thing he had to buy was Bullets. The guy took it all the out the back buy using the y-pipe and added the bullets in. Nice looking setup and loud as hell to.
