Default couple questions for Ellis Or who else may know

Ok Heads are ordered for the Camaro now I am looking to finish this car.

I need new set of gears for the tranny (proper ones for my car so things will run right) I need the 17 & 43 gears ( Hoping to find a compleat set) I can get them on line but I am hoping someone locally can get them for cheaper? I will be paying something like $70 via Bowtie overdrive This Is what I am looking at.

Plus I need to find a Torque Converter as well. (need to decide on which one I need or want) anyone know where I can get one for cheaper than $500? or have a suggestion on which one I should get for my 87 Iroc 355.

Oh next thing after that is the new brake set up. I know I cant go with the LS1 or LT1 brake systems because they will not really work for my car but should I go find a wrecked 1LE or B4C 3rd gen & upgrade to them?

I am willing to listen to comments about this. I dont know anything about rear ends or trannys

I would love to see you find a B4C/1LE in a junkyard. Look at the C4 HD brake upgrade that is done by Ed Miller over on Thirdgen. Hard to beat for the price. For the rears run LS1s

Thanks Doug I will look in to that.

I am looking at dropping a 4th gen Rear end in this thing if things will work I know they bolt right in but dont know if the spacing will have to be diff. or not for tire fit

Yeah, the 4th gen rear spaces it out a couple inches. If you want you can run spacers on the front and a 4th gen rear and run 4th gen rims its normally a easy way to upgrade the rims to something bigger as rims can be hard to find for the car.

I *think* that the tires will fit (245) without rubbing w/ the 4th gen rear, but it'll look kinda funny.

They had the front spindles and brakes for a LS1 camaro at the swap meet. Seem to recall them being about $80 each. They had a few body items too. No one was looking I guess.

Yea I was looking for heads there, thats all the money I had was for my heads & upgraded springs (had to buy diff springs since I have a Hydrolic Roller cam)

March will be the speedo gears for tranny & Pushrods & dist.

next year will be the rear end.

Then Maybe not go with the 4th gen rear end. My just rebuild my current one. Going to be getting a set of Chromed Iroc 17s for my car.

They will, but it looks pretty redneck-ish to have the 4thgen rear and 3rdgen-spec wheels on. The rear tires stick a 1/4" or so outside of the fender while the fronts tuck up under. I've got a 4thgen rear on mine. Can you get the chrome iroc wheels in any backspacing you want? If so just get shallower backspacing.

The other day I saw a white 4thgen bird driving around on the older 85-86 16" trans am turbo cast convex wheels. Looked odd because it stuck farther out each corner.

Ok doug My car is not going to be Pimped out ok. So 17s should give it a nice look.

So no one knows where I can get my hands on the Speedo gears other than bowtie overdrive?

Going to be ordering hopefully sometime next month.
