My TCI SF3000 was the source of slip codes for me,
had to jack the line pressure way up to make it hold
at all. The clutch is just too small. Plus the stock tune
commands zero line % at light cruise, light including
uphill grades, which is stupid and starves the TCC for
working pressure. Tuning might make it tolerable,
maybe you can get a minor do-over to lower force
motor current at the low-load end of the table and
gimp along for a while. I finally had enough and swapped
for another converter with a mondo clutch.

will directly increase holding power of the TCC. But there
is only so far that will go, there's an upper pressure limit
I figure they'll respect.
You might inquire at TCI about what they can do for a
more capable clutch. I gather they will do some custom
stuff. Haven't seen Kevin Winstead around here lately,
he used to take care of a lot of folks' special requests &
support.

The Transgo kit includes a revised TCC valve that does away with the modulated apply that the PCM commands. It gives you full pressure at every application. I doubt there's anything wrong with your converter unless it was defective from the factory. The new TCC valve and revisions to your valve body with the Transgo kit should take care of your problem.

usually a 1870 is because a bushing or seal is going out pull the pan and see if there is any brass inside. if you find brass the front input bushing is most likely the cause of that code. a new new body will not fix it any tranny guy worth his salt will agree with me on that too. the valve that people have been reaming to fix that code are basically putting a band aid on the problem. a shift kit will keep the code from coming back because your jacking up pressure to make up for the leak. I've talked to my automatic transmission instructor about this code while in ASEP class and most times the way to fix this code is to reseal and replace every bushing in the tranny.
either way your problem is not in your valve body, but rather a seal or bushing unless of course you just installed that convertor in which cause the computer may think it is slipping when its just a convertor thats a little looser than stock. if that convertor has been in for a while then you need to consider a rebuild complete with all seals and bushings.
