Nitto 555r's + rain?

Nitto 555r's + rain? Im picking out tires for my new 17's and im considering some 555r's for the rears.
i can get a good deal on some really nice 245's for the front, but i dont want 245's about back
so do you thnk 555r's would be strait in the rain? as a daily driver, no asr with a few bolt ons?

Not bad at all till about just under half of the stock tread thickness. Then, you have to be even more conscious of the standing water and ruts that fill up on the road during the rain.

I have the 555RII's which are the same tread pattern and compound as the 555R and they are surpisingly good in the rain. I have them on all 4 corners.
Just be cautious when it's wet and be very carefull when they are nearly bald.

Dunno about the 555r's but I had 2 day old 315/35/17 BFG DR's on my 93 Z28 and spun the car merging onto the interstate in the rain. Kinda put me away from DR's.

They both have the same treadwear rating, traction and temperature ratings on Nitto's site. Nitto claims their 555Rs can still get 15,000 miles on the street (with normal driving).

I drove on the highway as well as surface streets with my Nitto DRs in some pretty hellacious rain. Never had a problem. Just use a little common sense and you'll be fine. FWIW, when they were new they actually did pretty damn good in wet weather.
