Default tranny mount

This past weekend I installed a new ES tranny mount and it looked nothing like the stock one I pulled off. I am not very good at working on cars but I did get that done and rotors and brake changed. The stock mount had a bolt that came out of it and the ES mount only has 3 holes which bolts go in. I mounted the new tranny mount with one of the supplied bolts. Is that the way it should have been done or did they send me the wrong mount?

GM used two types of trans mounts.

one used two bolts. the other used one center bolt.

the universal energy suspension poly mount has both styles in it (it says this in teh directions too ) since yours was the "one center bolt" style, you only use one... you did it right.

I have noticed that when it his around 2000 rpms it gets real loud inside the car and I am assuming it is the vibration caused by the new mount. Some people say to take the preload plate off and that helps the vibration. Can anyone agree to that.

Yes, take the preload plate off. That should help SOME (but it won't quiet it all). Another thing you have to watch for is the new poly mount causing false knock (it caused some in mine).

Extra noise and vibration caused by short throw shifters, stiffer tranny mounts, banging exhaust, etc, can be picked up by the knock sensors and interpreted as knock even if you don't have any.

I had to desensitize my knock sensors a little to keep away from mine...anything above 22* and it showed knock no matter what.
