Default A4 best gears

Well i did some searching and also read up some info on gear swapping. According to the speed ratio chart my 2 best bets formy a4 will be either a 3.42 or 3.73 gear set from strange. Im trying to decide which one will give me the performance im looking for but also not hurt my highway mpg that much. Im pretty set on the 3.42 gear set. It will be a huge jump from my 2.73 and will also go well with the fuddle 3200 im gonna be ordering nest week. Just wanted to get some opinions on whether or not i should just go 3.73 or stay 3.42. Will the difference be enough that i wish i would have done it later. Future mods look to be the converter, longtubes, and possible a 100 shot(but not for a long while on that one).

This is perspective from an LT1 2.73 to 3.73 swap, but it made a world of a difference. A friend of mine has 3.42's on his LS1 and is buying 3.73's tomorrow, it's a great ratio. Gas mileage depends on your foot too, but it will go down a little.

Lower top speed, lower mileage, less traction.

See how you like the converter at the track before you change your gears.

I had 3.42's and changed them out. I went to 3.90's as my 12 bolt gave me that option. I will say this though. I picked up only .05 and less than 1 MPH at the 1/8th mile track I always run at going from the 3.42's to the 3.90's. I'm considered a stock internal car now with my mods but I was much closer to stock when I swapped gears out. My converter is very forgiving of what gear is in the rear.

if u were refering to me thats kind of going to be a problem for me cause i took my car to my uncles (mechanic) cause it was acting funny and he said the torque convertor actually whent bad so i have to replace it. but when it was driving good the car got up and whent like a mother f***er and its pretty much dead stock. so i dont know maybe i might just keep the same gears.lol
