Default 9 Inch Third Member

How strong is the standard case (third member)?.I have ask around locally and the answer changes each time.So far it's in between 350-500 hp.Is the standard case worth the time an money or should I look for the n case?

Thanks for any help you can give
Daniel

I have personally seen stock cases go into the mid 10's. The vehicle was a striped out LT1 383 TA.

My buddy went high 10's with a cast center. I would not push one more than probably mid 10's.

Will the weight and type of transmission used affect the power the cast third member can hold.MY first car is a 2001 trans am 6 speed with no weight taken out.I'm going to put in a tsp 231/237 cam and 150/200 shot of nitrous.MY second car is 91 z28 auto with some weight off. This car has a 355 mild head and cam a novi 2000 supercharger. My z28 will soon get a 350 tranny in trans brake and 100 shot just fun .Will the case third member handle the power of both cars?

Thanks Daniel

My buddy was running 8's at 160ish in his BBC 69 camaro. He ran a cast center section for a long long time at least several seasons. The only reason he broke it was because he was showing off an turned up his nitrous so it hit harder off the line. He broke the case clean in two, he is now just running an original cast iron Ford "N" case.

Yeah you're right those people are to busy asking if their stock 10 bolts will work with a M6 DR's and a 250 shot.....even if they build it up...

????

Not at all. You can run 10's, or faster with a cast center, on slicks, and with the stock 10 bolt you are on borrowed time.
