Default Should a New TB Go On w/ an LS6 Intake?

I'm seriously considering an LS6 intake, and I'm curious if upgrading the TB will advance the cause to any great degree. I've researched the pros and cons of the various options out there, and for my car (SLP Y-Pipe, Loud Mouth, Lid, Bryan Herter Tune {pcmforless.com}, & FTRA), the LS6 looks to be the best option. Will a ported/polished TB (Shaner S2, etc.) help? Also, where can the best prices for an LS6 Intake (w/ EGR provisions) & TB be found?

Thanks,

Mark

The ported Tb will help but not as much as a set LT's would . If your looking for a intake with the egr hole you will have to get the slp one. If you dont need the egr get a GM intake from any other of the sponsors.

Yes an ls6 intake would work better with a ported or aftermarket tb it is just a question of how much better and is it worth the money. I would have some one port your stock tb if you can find some one local to save alittle money.

the slp LS6 intake comes with the coolant lines you need aswell, they have the non emissions style and its only 399, thats about what some people on here are selling them for. and you will have all the neccessary parts from what they say you will and just port your stock throttle body and be good to go.

In my views if you are doing it all at once its just easier.

You can do the upgrade with out but it'll be all apart why not just get it done in one shot. Even if you wait to save up a bit I'd say its worth it.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I think I'll try to get a little OT in the next few weeks, and go with a Shaner S2 when I get the intake. Or maybe even find a used TB and give it a go myself.

A ported tb will definatley help. However, if you are looking to see what is going to net you more power, go with the long tubes. not only will you get more power but you will get a better sounds aswell. you should see around 10rwhp with just the throttle body alone, not including the gain with the ls6 upgrade.

10 rwhp by just porting the TB? That is simply incredable. Do you know anyone that has a dyno sheet showing this gain? If so you might want to post it up to show people what HP they can gain by using there dremil for a couple of hours.

That was just a rough guess. I certainly dont have a dyno sheet proving it. I should have said 5-10.

Most people will say 7 rwhp is normal for a ported TB. Check out New Era Performance-------------------------------------------->

Mikes a great guy and for $75 he'll hook you up
