Default GMMG or True Dual?

Hey guys! I was just wanting your opinions on this choice? Which do you think sounds better in your opinion, (with Hooker Longtubes)? What would be the overall best choice? Duals are nice, but expensive, but so is the GMMG. What would the price comparision be on these two, any big difference? Thanks a lot guys!

You could talk to cammin beaSSt he just took off his true duals because of a recent ticket and he is going to put the gmmg on his car.He speaks very highly of the gmmg.

True Duals hands down. I love the sound...actually sounds ballsy now. NEway, as for price, I haven't looked at he GMMG in a while, but my dual setup cost $425. It consists of 2.5" tubing from the header collector pipe into an x-pipe, through dual bullet mufflers with the dumps right before the axle. The 2.5" diameter helps in exhaust velocity and boy does the car rip! Before I had the dual setup I had the SLP y-pipe with dual random tech cats (still have them incase I get in trouble) into a Flowmaster 80. The old setup cost me a ton of power compared to my new setup.

If you're worried about disturbing the neighbors, you might want to consider the GMMG. I'm not going to lie, the duals are pretty loud...not obnoxious in my opinion, but loud all the same. I set off car alarms when I drive through parking garages, but there are allot of aftermarket exhaust setups that do also.

Try to find some people that live close by that have the setups you want. Go for a ride and make your decision. Good luck either way.

The GMMG sounds great...but you'd be stupid not to go true dual.
My setup cost me $450 and consisted of the guys welding flanges onto my hooker lt's and to the mandrel bent pipe, followed by a Dr. Gas 3" setup, including mandrel bends and the x-pipe, along with 2-12" dynomax bullets and finally 2 flowmaster turndowns.
Car sounds magnificant and wouldn't trade the sound I have from it for anything in the world! Good luck w/your decision.

I have true duals with bullets right now it is pretty loud but I put the same setup I have on a buddy's 98 ta except we put the borla pro xs mufflers they are a hell of alot quieter than the bullets. At idle they almost are to quiet but at wot they are very deep sounding but still not to loud.It really just depends on what a person wants.

Either way you go you wont go wrong. The GMMG is probably the baddest catback on the market. It flows well, sounds incredible, and is the lightest of the bunch. True duals, if you can get away with it will sound badass. I love mine. I really dont want to sell them, but my local police department has decided to harass me about the exhaust not exiting the rear of the car. powerwise, I wouldnt be able to say. I know the chambered flows extremly well. Goodluck in whatever you decide.

Just to help out, the fbodyhideout is having a GP on the GMMG exhaust, its for like $650 w/o the tips, but if 15 people get in on it you get a $25 refund check, 20 people, you get a $50 refund check, they already have 8 or 9 people, it lasts untill 11/15 i believe, they start shipping the exhaust after 10 people are in, I'll be sending my check in about a a week 1/2. gotta get a few more dollars! www.f-bodyhideout.com is the website

If you have emissions or state inspections a true dual setup will never pass (or at least shouldn't) - not because of the emissions, but because of the exhaust setup.

The GMMG is the best catback hands down, but if you are suck on ture duals you could always go with true duals and some chambered sections instead of bullits. I would love to do that but the great state of Maryland wouldn't like that very much.

Just my thoughts

Has anybody ever ran their true duals all the way out the back ? I'd love to have them, but would definitely want them all the way back with nice tips

I've had many different aftemarket cat-backs on my LS1's and the GMMG Chambered Exhaust had the best sound/tone on an LS1 hands down of all the different systems I tried out. It actually made the wimpy sounding LS1 sound tough on an otherwise stock car.

But...if you really want true duals, go for it. Although I personally prefer the GMMG sound at WOT over the duals using X-pipes(too high-pitched sounding).

Either way, you can't go wrong.

I have seen one example of a ture dual exhaust going all the way back but I believe it was small pipes. It can be done, but takes some work - that is the way I would go, especially since I have a TA and have openings for the exhaust.

Even with stock manifolds and cats the GMMG sounds great and you don't get the drone and/or resonance hassles. Still the cleanest, hardest sound I've heard from a cat back LS1.

True duals for the power, and there is no drone without cats. TSP sells a nice true dual, and if that is too loud, put some XR1s on there, and will still be right about the same price as GMMG.
