I'd say it might be a broken baffle in the muffler (any rattles when you bang on the muffler) FWIW sounds like a replacement muffler is in your future

I haven't rattled it yet but i'll give it a shot, either way I need a new one. It's really starting to bother even though nobody but me can probably notice it.

Which is louder magnaflow or flowmaster

Don't get the flowmaster, the flow sucks on their ls1 system (80 series muffler IIRC), the magnaflow is probably little louder
Check out www.ls1sounds.com to hear the different systems

Mine does the same thing, but it doesn't rattle. So I am interested in what you find out too.

Yea, don't get the flowstopper, I've got one and its garbage as far as flow. Sounds pretty good with the cutout open though

My Magnaflow muffler part#14267 has a lifetime warranty... Might try just removing and sending it back to Magnaflow.

I don't think there's any problem. Magnaflow uses a straight-through design in their mufflers, so there's no chance of any "broken baffle" or anything. The reason for it is the way Magnaflow designs their mufflers; they've been like this since they came out. They had one design to their muffler where there was an outlet on both sides, but they redesigned so that now both outlets are on one side and one wraps back around for the dual tip appearance. Mine was always quieter on one side because of this too; it's just something that the Magnaflow catbacks do. Not a problem with flow or anything broken, it's just the design.

FWIW my magnaflow sounds very similar, on the passenger side, to no muffler at all. Before I put the muffler on I peeked inside the muffler and noticed there was a small chamber that was also directly open from the inlet and the passenger side outlet. That would account for the nasty sound. Overall the sound isn't bad, but single exhausts on LS1 F-bodies pretty much all sound like **** except for the SLP D/D which is quiet as hell.
