I would say that is normal for an AC Delco battery,I get roughly 6-8 years out of them.

My battery is 6 years old and seems to be as strong as it was 6 years ago. I keep a Battery Tender attached to the battery when the car is not in use and is setting in the garage. Like at night and at any other time the car is not being driven. Even as the things that are always on, alarm system, clock, etc. and are taking power, the Battery Tender keeps the battery charged. That way the battery never gets weak and never has to have a large surge of electric charge from the alternator. So, the altenator never has to work overly hard. That helps save and extend the life of the alternator also.

Wow, I've been through the stock one (3yrs) Diehard (2 yrs) now have an Optima - and only 23K on the clock - and I'm in Florida. (Mostly short trips though). Keep an eye on the positive battery post on those Delcos, they tend to leak.

Thats not the worst. The three above are in a class of less than 10%. I work for Advance Auto Parts and see more AC Delco and Interstate batteries returned as cores than any other brand. They work fine if you take perfect care of them but do anything that might slightly put a strain on it, then there it goes. Yellow-top right here after Interstate went out (on car at purchase).

not 0 miles...11 on the WS6...700 on the Firehawk. I don't think you can buy a car with 0 miles just because of the mileage they put on them shipping them from factory to dealer (on and off trains and trucks...etc.) We know the build dates on both cars and the batteries started going approx 4 years on each one from when they were built. Example...firehawk was built Dec 01...stock battery went Jan 06..approx 4 years. WS6 was built the summer of 02 - I'd have to go double check the exact month but it was June or July...I just replaced the stock battery in it earlier this month...so approx. 4 years later.

My bad. Thats what I meant by 0 though. You were the original owner. I guess that these cars do well with the original battery but most other GM vehicles that I see come into Advance have a weak or bad battery. Must be the alternator they put on the other vehicles.

I don't know if it helps or hurts that both cars are daily drivers..they don't get a chance to sit around for long.

My uncle works at Battery Warehouse and was also a little surprised that we weren't in sooner for a new battery.

i agree you need too keep an eye on those terminals on the delco's, i have an 01 ss with 11000 miles and one day i go to crank it and all i get is lights flickering and radio comin on and off so i pop the hood to check the terminals and when i grab the negative, it just fell off and battery acid went everywhere,i was so pissed.
