Default I Wanna B a Camaro guy

But I hears some stuff about how some of these cars have a speed limiter set to like 115???? How do I tell if im driving one of these cars or not when im at a dealership?? I tried looking at the stickys but I couldnt find anything? If anyone could help me out that would be cool. Im new with these cars so I don't know much about them but I have been reading alotta of the stickys.

Look at the SPI label on the driver's door. Code QFZ means the car came with Z rated tires and the speed limiter should be set to 162 MPH. Good luck!

Easy enough to delete any restrictions with a tuner.

I was worried about the same thing. I believe all the LS1 F-bodies after 2000 have Z rated tires stock. Which means they are governed at 162 or whatever.

I dont understand why they would limit an LS1 to 115 mph. Thats rediculous. They can easily do 140 haha. Ive only goe 120 in mine......so far

I'm assuming it has something to do with the speed rating of the tires from the factory. If the tires are only good up to 118, then they don't want the car to be able to do 160. Some people might not realize that they can't travel as fast as they want forever on lower speed rated tires and could be killed when their tires explode at 160MPH....

I believe all of the 6-speeds were not govered at 117mph but 162 mph, only some of the auto were governed at 117mph. At any rate as someone already said any handheld tuner/tuning program can delete the speed limiter if that is an issue. Good luck though in your search!

Look on the edge of the driver's door. There are two ways to tell:

RPO code:
If it has QBC or QEA it's 118
If it has QFK, QFZ, or QLC it's 160

Tire Size:
235/55/16 is 118
245/50/16 and 275/40/17 are 160
