Significant Progress on the Vette

Significant Progress on the Vette
on Saturday and Sunday I was able to...
1. Get the Dana 44 swapped in
2. Put the steel halfshafts with solid u joints in
3. Notch the engine crossmember to fit the oilpan
4. Weld the crossmember back up for strength
5. Install the 4L60E with the Yank SS 3200
6. Install the LQ4 shortblock
7. Modify the C-beam to support the new package with about 3/8 extra length
8. Snap a bunch of pics
9. Still find time to pester Rey about getting the heads swapped
Heres a link to the current progress and pics:

I'd recommend skipping to page 4... it's getting long.

Sounds like you are getting places.....if you don't mind me asking, what car did you end up getting to get the rear end from? You can PM me if it isn't something you wanna say here or you can ignore me too.

I traded my used H2 Magnaflow catback at the swap meet to another vendor for a D44 rear cover, a armrest cover, and a another item. Then I bought a D44 3.33 geared diff from a East coast parts guy. $1200 shipped for the diff. I also cleaned and sold the D36 already for $300. Just have to get a shipping quote for the guy
So basically a D44 cost me about $900. No one was gonna buy that H2 catback... lol

You ever call or go to that website? raamat. He gave me a great deal. I hooked him up with a few contacts and he helped me out. If you go there tell him I sent you. I live down the street from him.
Mostly alone. I do have a wife that can run the pump on the hoist pretty good and two dogs that are nervous in the garage. If I were them i'd be nervous too. Everything in my garage has at least one mod
I do want ot get some of that raamat. Jsut got several things to do in front of it
It is a lot of work... but it doesn't do itself and the horsepower elves never do it while I'm asleep at night I usually do about 10-12 hours pretty much non-stop. When I'm tired I switch to a less strenous part of the job.
I still have to do a lot of stuff.... but the biggest hurdle is over on this car now.

I just talked to TTP today, looks like my head swap is about 2-4 weeks out. (Ordering some Stage 3 AFR 205s) I've got some Darts that I was sending back to TSP if your interested. ($1700, equipped w/ PRC Dual Springs good to .650".)

I'm just getting antsy cause I want to get the truck on the shop schedule and the vette running is the controlling factor on that.

tru-ice: As soon as we can get our hands on these heads we will get them out. It is looking right now like April 26th. We are trying to get our hands on a set faster for you. We will keep you updated.
