Default School me on the 93-97 and or the 98-02 Camaros.

Being a mustang fan for the passed 15 yrs or so, I don't know to much about the Camaro. I'll looking to buy a used camaro, I would like to have the LS1 with the 6-speed, but price is a concern. What are the differences, brakes, trans, engine, suspension, Gas Mileage, pros and cons of each?
Thank you for your time.

just a quick rundown of the major differences.
93-97=LT1 engine, iron block, 275 FWHP, LT body,A4=4L60E, M6=T56,$10k or less.
98-02=LS1 engine, alum. block, 325 FWHP(depending on package),LS body,A4=4L60E,M6=T56,$15k or less.
major diffs. yes i know guys theres alot im leaving out but these are most of the major decision makers.

i believe the LS1's also get a bit better gas mileage. Both are great cars, and make great power. the lt1's are a bit more torqey down low, but the LS1's have a better mid to top end performance.

also the power ratings advertised publicly are not accurate. LT1 is more like 300 fwhp, ls1 more like 350.

As far as MPG I usually get around 17-18 MPG. That is all city driving, and I would call my driving "spirited", plus I have an auto. 20 MPG city isn't unheard of, and I've heard over 30MPG highway is attainable.

93-97 were rated 275 as said 93-95 and kicked up to 285 when they went with dual cats and OBDII. They're iron versus the aluminum of the LS1. very torquey....anyone know of any major suspension upgrades...nothing jumps out at me off hand. both are very fun and i definitely think youll be happy with either.

Don't bother with the LT1. Buy an LS1. A bone stock LS1 is as fast or faster than a full bolt-on LT1. A full bolt-on LS1 is definitely in the 12's.

RE: LT1's, One major concern is the OptiSpark, that is the distributor, which is located in front of the block riiiight below and somewhat underneath the waterpump, LOTS of drama for quite a few LT1 owners, including me and my old 93Z28, I ended up having 175K miles on my original block but had to change the OptiSpark 3 times which includes having to remove the waterpump just to get to it this is an absolute pain in the rear and this is the major reason why I went to the LS1, absolutely no regrets whatsoever.

Oh yeah, 01-02 V8's came with the LS6 intake and no EGR valve.

Hey man, you gotta change your name to Stampedetil3/30/06. Dont even consider an LT1.
