Question 58mm TB or 52mm, guys please help.

I have the mods listed in my sig and I will start getting the motor back to one piece tomorrow, however, i was talking to one of the guys today and he told me that my TB is way to big for my set up and CI , and offered me to trade with a 52mm that he already have.

I don't know how true is that, and I'm new with LT1's i only had mine for 2 months now.

BTW, i got mine for a really good deal so i wont be losing money in the trade if it happens, i got mine for 50$ with less than 100 miles on it, it a BBK.

Sell him your 58 mm and put the factory throttle body back on.

with your mods it sounds like it would be more than needed but since you got it for a good deal and already have it im not sure if it would hurt anything.

im a heads/cam/bolton lt1 and im still on stock tb but will be uprading to 58mm sometime soon hopfully

58 will be fine as long as it is tuned.

Sounds to me like the guy just wants the 58mm you have instead of the 52mm hes offered to trade you with. Just what I gather

I think the 52mm would benefit your current set up better than the 58mm. The 52mm will support up to about 450hp. Unless your motor is kicking that door down or will real soon I think the 58mm is way overkill. Remember bigger is not always better.

58mm is still only approx 54mm until you port the opening on the intake.

dude hang onto what you have, sure a 52 would work fine on yours, you have a 58 already though, you'll be upgrading I'm sure in the future, just keep it & make sure your cars tuned for it is all.

I would keep it. Since your motor is already apart, have the intake bored to 58mm now. It will save you time later when the larger capacity will be needed (after more mods).
