Picked up the car today!
Runs good shifts nice drove for about 2 hours, no noises. Smooth WOT. The oil pressure concerns me though. I thought it got warm enough on the test drive that it would have acted this way. I only have about 10 to 18 PSI warm, Cruising I have about 20 to 30. WOT is the kicker though it will hit 40 to 50 psi, then drop off to 25ish. Seems kinda wierd to me. I am going to change the oil, put a good filter on it, change the sending unit and see what it does.
What do you guys think?
If I have to pull the motor...oh well. Can't win them all as many cars that I have bought and sold. But is this is the case I will have someone rebuild the bottom end and put it back togther for the season. However I have been reading up on it and it seems a bunch of people have the same readings on their LT1s with no ill effects.

that seems real low at idle. i run about 40-45 at idle. what brand of oil are you running? filter?

That does seem low, but 10 psi for every 1000 rpm is all that is essential. I'd say you probably have some bearings that are "getting there", but I'm sure you will be ok for a good while.

Loose is fast. Just consider it a "Super Stock" clearance.

Good explination Don! I think I am going to run it like that for the season and pull the engine during the winter. It will proabably only see about 30 passes this year and that is being optimistic
