Default what cam? yes this thread again!lol

alright..... as most of u prolli seen my thread a lil while ago about Lloyd elliott, heres alil background info. im doing a 355 rebuild and im going to prolli get LE1 heads done, and im a A4, with 2:73 gears, prolli somewhere in the neighborhood of a 2800 stall, and my question too u guys is what size cam do u think i should go with? i want it as streetable as possible which makes since since im only going with the LE1 package, and i dont want it to sound too obnoxiouse but sound good when i get on it and pull hard, im looking at something like anywhere from a 218/218 to a 224/230 or something along the lines of one of those, oh and im trying to make somewhere between 350-400rwhp which isnt going to be a easy task with a gay4 but im gonna try . thanks

whatever cam we pick on here wont be as good as what you will get from lloyd and bret.

if for whatever reason you don't want to go with the LE1 cam and want an off the shelf cam I would pick a comp cams XE224/230 on a 112 LSA. seems to have a nice chop yet still be driveable.

If they had a better idea they would probably be doing Lloyd's cams.

i know that his cam i sprolli better im just worried about it being too obnoxiouse. i dont want to be sitting at a light and having lope like a mother. i am going to have a full exhaust so maybe that kind of a cam wont sound to crazy.

You could ask Lloyd for a cam to go with the heads that was very tame at idle, but it would probably not produce all the grunt of the LE1. The difference isn 't a lot, however. There are even "LE-E" or emission friendly cams that might fit your requirements. Just ask Lloyd.

There is a collection somewhere of videos of various LE packages idling, runnning, etc.

yeah he told me about the emission cam and i would prolli go with that but then i would be afraid that im not going to make the power that i want to, i keep going back in forth between a lil more power or tamer sounding, i wouldnt worry about it so much if it wasnt my daily driver.

Well your going to have to realise you can't have one with the other on a stock bottom ended LT1. one thing and this is not a shot at you or anyone else but what the hell are you getting a cam for if you don't like the lope. That is one thing that has always just boggled my mind, I mean I understand some old person that own like the new GTO's and how squirrly they are. But anyway, so you want a cam with no to little lope, emissions friendly but doesn't rob you of power. And when you say you are wanting to get to 400hp or close to it, is that N/A ? and are you speaking at the flywheel ? If you can hit 400 to the tires with LE1 heads and some mild cam I better hit 450-475 with what I have. Why don't you simply call Lloyd and get his input since the heads and cam work in direct corilation with each other. Call Comp, call Lunati, and get a range of opinions, they arer there to answer your questions and it is there specialty. If you did call them you must be specific as to what you are wanting and wanting out of your car. GOOD FREAKIN LUCK AND GET A CAM AND THE HEADS ON THE CAR. Then come back when you want to ask what rotating assemly to go with, or how much nitrous your should spray. Good luck !!!

i didnt say i didnt want a lope i said i didnt want a huge lope, theres a difference. i know two guys that both have TA's and one has a huge cam that lopes like a mother and the other one has a baby cam, im looking for something thats in between and thats gonna give me enough power to make at least 350RWHP, i dont really need to make 400RWHP for a daily driver, i think 350RWHP is definitly possible and Lloyd thanks the same thing. like i said ill prolli get the LE1 cam, i just wanted some peoples opinion. "GOOOOOOOOD!.....frickin idiot!" lol

If you don't have to do emissions the LE1 cam is tame.... even Lloyd's wife has a LE1 cam in her car.

FWIW I developed the LE1 to be the next step up after the HotCam. It's very driveable with tuning, and has a small lope to it.

how much is a small lope, cause to some people a 232/240 or something is a small lope to them, lloyd said that the LE1 cam only makes about 8hp/10tq more then the LE-E cam, do u think that its worth just getting the bigger cam?

It makes a lot more TQ.... when I say small I mean small, not like a 232/240 something.
