Default Th350 Questions

I installed a TH350 trans and Trex cam. The converter is a Vig.4000 stall.
The question I have is about the power i lost over my 4l60e and 3200 tci stall and Hot Cam. My car put out 350rwhp and 380rwtq before and now I have 336rwhp and 471rwtq. Is this normal? It of course feels faster but It's not showing it on the dyno. The torque is but wheres my Horsepower.

M6 > TH350 I lost 35 RWHP. The car was .3 faster at the track. It would have picked up more but I need to get past the mental block that there is no longer a clutch to brake.

Ya, I know but damn I thought the change in cam would do a little for me. Are my numbers about right for the Th350 and Trex cam?

You have to remember the TH350 uses a non lockup style converter so you will never get an accurate dyno. The engine RPM is actually higher than what is being produced on the transmission input shaft because of converter slippage. Like it has been said take it the track to see improvement, the dyno cannot tell you all.

something doesn't sound right. Are you sure you installed the cam correctly ie..not a tooth off? What did the cam pull to?

Can you post a graph?

The cam pulled to 7200rpm's and I had my buddy that owns a shop put it in. He's good and he's been doing me right since I had a car and their always fast. Anti-venom.

What springs were used? Were the 2 dyno's on the same dyno? Was it a dynojet or Mustang dyno?
Even with the 4000 stall it should have pick up quite a bit from a hotcam.

There is nothing wrong with his install, look at the difference in HP and TQ and you can see it is plainly a non lockup converter issue, the dyno cannot give an accurate picture. It is common with an A3 and non locking big stall.

Not uncommon to loose with a TH350 but you will loose more if you went with a TH400 I did. Glad you are happy that is all that matters

going from a M6/10 bolt to a TH350 with a 9" 4200 converter and a 9" ford I lost a little over 60rwhp on a 500rwhp car. Thats how it goes, once you do the unlocked auto/big stall you are about done internet dyno racing
