No, it's not what you'd call "Ram Air" compared to the Trans-Am WS6. The SS hood has the inlet halfway up the hood and it has to make a u-turn towards the front of the hood and then make another u-turn before it goes into the front of the airbox. The SS hood is more like "cold air induction" instead of ram air. Plus the hood gets hot from engine heat which warms the air charge as it passes through the channels.

Not to say the WS6 or Firehawk hood is a "Ram Air" wonder eigther...

Ramming of air is something they have whole books on, way too much to explain here.

*(opinion)* I think black hoods on imports look like crap, 40 pounds lighter to paint it anyway seems to be a waste. I'd just buy an oem hood because you know it will fit correctly and call it a day. ~Joshua

i think they would sell tons if it was only $800 for a carbon fiber SS hood... that is.. if the hood really is a true SS replica and is really carbon fiber...

I always thought it would be cool to get a carbon figer SS hood and paint it but leave the SS scoop carbon fiber. That way you have a manta stripe, but its carbon fiber. That would look killer!

Ok I tried to post link but it would not work.Sorry guys but its not in the USA it is in Japan on thier version of Ebay.I will try and get the link sorted soon sorry I am not a computer wiz.How much does a stock hood weigh?Cause to lose 20kg or 44 pounds like this comercial says, sounds like a lot to me even for carbon fiber but I have handled carbon fiber skyline hoods and they are really light.
