Transmission Won't Slide All The Way In
Having trouble sliding the trans all the way up to the bell housing (still about 1/2" away. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? The pilot tool slipped in fine after the first attempt, rechecked again after pulling the tranny back. The clutch is a spec 2+ w/ a fidanza flywheel, new pilot bearing is in. Also bent up the rear lip of the shifter hole in the tunnel for more clearance. The gap between the trans & bell housing measures even as far as I can measure around it. A little frustrated at this point, this is far from my first clutch job. It almost seems like the input shaft is'nt going into the pilot bearing, despite how straight the tranny seems to be going in. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

The alignment dowels are not quite entering the holes yet, so that's not holding it up. Also I did'nt crack open the bleeder yet (although I'll try it) but I don't think that slave cyl. spring is holding the trans back. I'll try that in the morn.
Also there is no hydraulic line connected to the slave yet.

i'm in the same boat, no hydraulic lines connected, i'll loosen the bleeder valve tmr
problem is now i'll be by myself with it being easter
I wonder if i should go buy a tranny jack...hate to spend the money on it though
we pushed as hard as we could and that sucker wouldn't go in, maybe there was pressure in the OT bearing... i dunno
everything is lined up 100%

I have a 1/2" all around as far I can get my 6" scale. Does anyone think the slave spring has just enough pressure to make things difficult. Does anybody recommend starting the bolts to draw the trans in?

Sorry bud, just wanted to make sure you weren't getting your hopes up. HAHAHA
Let the slave blead down some, as i think that might just be your problem. Last time we put my tranny in (4th time maybe?) it wouldn't go in so i got pissed and just started shaking the hell out of it while lifting it up and it slid in just enough to get the bolts in 2-3 threads. Then just even pressure on the bolts while still shaking the tranny around
