Default Why is my car so slow

well i went to the 1/8 friday for the first time. I have what is in my sig and a 100 dry shot on a window switch. i had alot of problems launching, was trying to spin the tires to bad and keep boging down my car. my best times was
2.3309 60 FT
6.0384 330 FT
8.9473 1/8 ET
85.93 MPH

how much should i expect to make make up with about a 2.00 60 FT. just wondering i see every one running 9.00 on pretty much stock cars. i also had alot of spining when i shifted in two second. I am also wondering how much some drag radials would help me and input would be very helpfully. i have to get my times lower so i can beet this guy i work with that has a SRT-4 he is running 8.2.

Your 60' is killing you...From what I've heard .1 down low is worth .2 up top. Get that 60' down in the 1.8's and you should be doing much better.

yeah that is was i was thinking. i was looking at my time slips and all 4 are almost identical for the 60 on and the times were 9.3, 9.4 8.9, 9.5 so i know i need to get my 60 WAY down and i think if i can get some dr then i can get alittle in the top end cause i spin going it to second and when the nitrous hits in second too. but that for the input

DR's definitely will decrease your 60's & increase your MPH

yeah i am used to racing on the street but that was my first trip to the track and the first time using nos i had just got the system installed about two hours before i left to go out there so i was worried about launching at to high of an rpm cuase i don't want my nitrous to kick in to early in 1st. the window switch is set at 35 to 55 and it works good in second and the little bit of third that i got to use. but i am going to go out again next friday and try it again should get some better results. but on a good note i beat a CBR 1000 (no i don't know how, he ran a 9.5 to my 9.3) so that was my one little bright spot!!

I have about the same set up you have and with a 100 shot I pull 7.7s with a 1.7 60 ft. on motor I run 8.2-8.3 with 1.8 60s...I use M/T street drag radials they will definately help out your 60 ft times.

so you're trapping 85 in the 1/8 mile spraying on a stick car? that seems a little low to me. i trapped 83 when my car was stock. perhaps you should try correcting whatever is causing your lack of power before you throw more money at it. ie, have someone with efilive or something take a look at it for you, and get a tune while you're at it.

and drag radials will help lower your 60' as well, which is what your 1/8 mile ET will HEAVILY depend upon. just don't get too crazy or you'll be replacing your rearend.

well it does have 102000 miles on it. so some thing could easly be wrong. but i think that with the launches i was getting i can shave at lease .4 off my et. yes they were that bad of launches. but i think i am going to try to find some one around here to do a tune on it, but i was waiting till i got the cam i am looking at. but i may have to just go ahead and get it done now and not later. thank for the insight

yeah..a lot can happen in 102k, but in defense of these motors, my buddy has had 2 b4c cars, both with over 135k on them, and both ran better than my car (stock for stock) that had 45k on it at the time.

i think hooking a laptop up to it with efilive or whatever tuning device you feel necessary will find your goblin. then sit down on a set of sticky mickeys and softly launch...cut a 2.0 or better 60 and start your spray 1/2 way through first, say bye bye srt4.

well i went to the track tonight and my nitrous line busted on the way there. but the weired thing is i ran almost the same time that i did not nitrous. tonight i pulled a 9.11 @ 81 mph in the 1/8. my sixty was 2.29. does that sound right for a car with cat back and lid with bald tires. i am wondering what i sould be running with out nitrous and see if my problem was just my launching. any input would be a big help

I think I'll agree with everyone else and say 1.) get you motor looked over and scanned for problems, and 2.) get that 60ft waaaay down. That is what is seriously killing you. I dropped my 60ft from a 2.0 to a 1.9 and dropped almost .2 off of my 1/8 and my 1/4 ET. You're cutting 2.3? I'd say get that below a 2.0 and you'll be looking at a 8.2-4 1/8 easy. If not, something is wrong. Drag radials should fix most of your problems. haha you shouldn't expect to hook with nitrous in 1st or 2nd gear with bald tires.

yeah i spin all the way down the track, but tonight it felt like i pulled alot better ever thought it was slower time. I was just wondering it a 9.1 with the cat back and lid on street tires is normal or does it still sound like there is some thing wrong with my car.

I think it's safe to say "normal" considering it could be a lot better by just adding more traction, you get what i mean? lol

Yea it should. I have a 3500 stall converter with a 4.10 rear. I doubt i could cut more than a 1.8 on the nittos. Assuming you have a higher gear, you should be able to use more of your car's power than me. a 1.7 or so wouldn't surprise me, then watch your ET drop like a rock.
