Where to mount bung for trans temp gauge?

The pan is one of the best places to put it. However a lot of folks (myself included) didn't want to mess with that and use the pressure test port above the trans linkage. The sender threads right in, and my gauge is spot on with what HP Tuners says. Just food for thought.

Thanks for the info.
Defintely didn't want to hassle with have to tap the pan and such. Kind of uncomforting, to try and get it done right.

Yup. I used a B&M Tranny Pan Drain Plug Kit. Drilled a hole in the front side of my Derale Deep Cooling Pan, installed the bung and welded it around in place. Sensor threads right into the bung - same threads.
Got to be careful where you choose to drill/install the bung so as to not interfere with any internal parts. I must have checked and re-checked 20X that the position I was picking would not allow the bung to contact any part of the valve body inside - which would stop the pan from installing correctly.

So you guys have actualy confirmed with a scan tool of some sort that you will get a prety accurate temperature reading from using the test port? Were is the factory trans temp sensor in the 4l60E.
