Header bolt back out ? or do you have manifolds stil ? If the manifolds are still on there maybe one cracked, saw alot of that when I worked at a muffler shop.

Still has manifolds, driving to work it sounded like it had a slight exhaust leak, then all of a sudden it sounded like a helicopter. This motor has 69K babied miles, it isnt whored, never saw gas, I'm hoping its just a really nasty exhaust leak. I'm in the middle finals too now, like a dumb **** I dropped the Blazer off for warranty work this morning, only if I knew, so now I just went from two cars to zero.

Try and pinpoint where the noise is coming from Neil. Pop the hood, jack the car up, or just run it by a shop when you get a chance. If it is a manifold then you have no excuse not to get LT's.

To me it sounds like a manifold gasket. When you mention helicopter, it sounds like its just leaking from one cylinder.

Header gaskets blow all the time. But I've never heard of anyone blowing a manifold gasket I guess theres a first for everything...

Manifolds cracking is what I have seen cause the noise that he is describing, or it is in the exhaust pipe close to one of the manifolds.

Urgh! manifold gasket would suck to fix!
Neil - get a piece of vacuum hose and use it to help you "hear" the leak...check around the manifold, the gasket and such.....if it is as loud as you say you should have no problem pin pointing the leak!

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks guys, I'll check when I get light, Its comming from the passenger side head area, it has to be some thing with that exhaust just as loud as it got. I have heard cars with broken motors before, your can hear the noise but its not this loud, drives fine though, it got me home with out wanting to die, oil presure seemed great. Mr.Bill, prety much the rest of my long tube stuff came from Thunder this morning. If it has to do with the stock exhaust, no way I'll fix it, planning on long tubes here in a few weeks any way. Maybe this was god finally getting mad and telling me to hurry my brown *** up and put headers on the car.
